This all depends on your surgeon and dietician, they are all different.

| My mums shepards pie. I requested it as my first solids, but it was still pretty mushy anyway. | |

| If the baked beans and egg go down okay try adding in say a bit of chopped up bacon mix it in with the baked beans for the wet factor. then maybe a small bit of sausage. Again add meat to wet food such as baked beans or sauces for the first few tries just incase you are one who has a bit of a problem. But if you did spagetti I would say you will not be. Pasta and rice are very filling and can be the first thing to be uncomfortable if you are going to be somebody who has problems with food. You got though that fine so I think you will be enjoying a chop or steak with a bit of nice sauce or gravy in a week or two :) applesauce | |

| thanks for that... I have had fish this week which went down well... but I am in no hurry.... believe me. I am a little nervous really as I don't want to change too quickly..... will try poached egg, baked beans (fart pellets!!!LOL).... Went shopping with the other half this morning and had spagetti with meat sauce.... I said sorry to the Italians while I was chopping up my spagetti into little pieces....LOL... but that went down well. Took it slow. Only wish I could have more energy, but have just started to take multi-vitamins so hopefully they will kick in soon!
Thanks for all the advice!

| fish in a bag that has sauce is a good start, so is baked beans. poached egg, not scrambled tho, as this is harder to digest. If all that goes down well then move onto curries or casseroles or stews make sure the meat is very tender and well cooked. Avoid the rice for the first few times if it is curry, the you can gradually add a spoon well mixed in to a very wet consistancy. If you have a problem with them stop for a few weeks and take a step back to curries etc using fish or and prawns as some people find it hard going onto meat others just breeze though it. If you eat those you will find you are pretty much right for anything. I could eat anything with no problems at all the male of the species did not agree with red meat for quiet a while. tho he found Han's pork pepper garlic fine as the pork is sliced very thin and done in bicarb before cooking so very tender just melts in the mouth. Break your food up and chew well until you find out if it is just going to go down easy or you will be somebody who has to take it slower. Keep it very wet. You will either breeze though this transition in a matter of a week or it can take what seems like forever for some people. Just remember everybody does tho move on and eats normally eventually :) applesauce | |

| I ate Gerber baby food sausage sticks 4 days post op. I could only get down one after chewing for an eternity.
Don't rush it. Stay on liquid or mushies for as long as your body tells you to. Listen to your tummy, NOT head hunger.

| I am suppose to start my soft diet next Monday, but I am hanging out to try something. I have been on mushies since day 5 post-op and I am now 22 days post-op.
I am thinking I might try some fish next weekend.
