| Hi Leah and welcome. I have had a couple of endoscopy's, they are just as everyone says. I also have an hiatus hernia, so my first appointment next Friday will see what is going to happen. | |

| Heey leah, As everyone has said, endoscopies are routine, just to ensure no probs at surgery time IE if there is a hernia that may need repair etc. Let me tell you that the drugs are wonderful!!! You remember nothing and it is so, so peaceful. I actually look forward to twighlight sedation these days, have had it maybe 4 times now for different things and it is always the same feeling. Blissful ignorance> | |

| I work for a gastroenterologist... a gastroscopy/endoscopy is very simple.... as Gail said... you go in after fasting from fluid and foods for at least 6 hours, get an injection to make you go to sleep, then wake up, have some sandwiches and a drink... then off home you go! Very easy and no pain.... You will be fine! | |

| Hi, The endoscopy is pretty simple, go to the hospital, have a nap, wake up, eat and drink, go home. Mind you I was freaked out about it but found that it was as easy as.
Cheers Gail | |

| Hi Leah,
my understanding from what my surgeon said was the Endoscopy was more a routine than anything, it is to check that there are no hernia's that need to be repaired or nothing that will cause you duress in your oesophagus. | |

| Hi All. Thankyou for the welcome notes. My appointment with Dr Leong went well, I am scheduled for the endoscopy on 20/10/09 and surgery date is 03/11/09. I meeting with dieticitian 10/10/09. Could someone please advise about the endoscopy and what chances their are of surgery being cancelled eg what would have to be found for the sleeve surgery to be cancelled, or is this just a check routine procedure. Any information would be very useful and I would be most grateful Thankyou | |
