| hi all
i have seen clare -- she is lovely and i think she has changed the way i think about food ,, hasnt changed my bad habits ( so far) which are champane and salmon and bikkes on the weekend,, when iam bad , iam a bad girl , get outa the way , iam eating.. lol.. so good on 5 to 6 days of the week.. i have seen a psychologist, i found him by doing some research..his name is glenn mackenzie . in tenneriffe .. i have only had one appt with him ... easy to get on with .. gave me some ideas on avoidance eating , ( not working spectacularly so far), but i think he does not know what he is dealing with ,, an eating machine , when i get going .. i think he is being too easy on me,,, hes very positive about the sleeve, and does work with weight management on the whole and also teaches other pyscs about how to deal with bariatric pts,, so maybe he's playing with me,,, 6 weeks out ,, iam doing pretty ok with the diet ,, but are fighting the urge to eat more because i know i cant later ,, and part of it is that i have decided to give up the dreaded champane . its fizzy and no good for me post op-- part of my problems is that i cannot exercise much at all as i am having a total knee replacement early next year as well ,, so all equals added weight gain.. so all in all ,, i think a dietitican and psyc will help in the long run... and so far giving a plug for clare and glenn if anybody is looking for one in brissy

| No, I didn't see a Psychologist. I'm not sure why I didn't. I suppose they could make sure you are really ready for the changes that you will be making and guide you through the possible ups and downs of the surgery (pre and post surgery).
Glad you will be seeing Clare, she's so lovely and knowledgable. Good luck on your weight loss.

| Yes totally agree, I was sleeved by Dr Liew on the 26/9 and sorted out a dietician for myself before surgery. Dr Liew does an amazing job of the surgery, but as he does not ask for any our of pocket payment, then it is up to us to sort out our support team of specialists. He recommends this when you talk to him. Just make sure they are experienced in helping with bariatric surgery diets. | |

| Hi, Clare Evangelista at Nudgee rd, Hendra is worth the drive. She knows a lot about gastric sleeve and I was lucky to find her. 3630 1398 is the phone number.
I was sleeved by Dr Liew and wish I saw Clare earlier, she's really good. I drive a half an hour to see her. Your doctor should be able to refer you to her under the health plan, which means you can see her 4 times for free.
Good luck. | |

| hi all I also am getting dr Leiw to do my sleeve on the 15th December . so excited .. not scared just cant wait. .. I had a friend have hers done by dr Leiw last sept and she is doing great although i feel she have may done better with a dietician and a phycologist on board. So i have decided to round them up myself I have been getting a bit of trouble finding a dietician , a few of them i have rung seem horrified that dr leiw does not offer ongoing dietician and physcologist support ,, but he is a no frills guy and iam not worried about finding a dieticain myself.. anybody had any luck with finding close to the southside of brisbane though? all the ones i can find are on the northside , if i have to go there i will .. but since my physcologist is down the GC as well , would really like one a bit closer | |

| Hi, Dr Liew sleeved me in April. I am very happy with him and the results. I've lost over 20kgs and am feeling great. The only thing I recommend is that you find a dietician as Dr Liew will give you a very vague diet plan and I found I was better once I started at a dietician ..... more focused and the support is great.
I still see her monthly until I lose all my weight (only 10 more kgs to go) and then I will see her probably 3-6 monthly.
Good Luck. | |
