| Apparently a lot of surgeons DO NOT remove lap-bands and do a gastric sleeve in the same operation. Apparently, a lot of stomachs have had a lot of damage done to them from the lap band.
So, from removal of lap-band, to undertaking having a gastric sleeve, apparently needs a lot of time for the stomach to heal.

| I had my band 2004 weighing in at 250kgs I went down to 150 and lingered there for years then has the slip. I went to Bali for a holiday after being told I had to wait 3 months and came back with DVTs so I had to again wait, this time for my blood to stabilise. So 6 months and my weight went back up to 180 until I could get the sleeve. That was 2013. Last year my so decided to follow my lead and went to Tim Wrights seminar. He told me that Tim does tummy tucks now for patients who he has done the surgery on. My wife was terrified. This week is 6 weeks since I had my abdominoplasty and come in at 127kgs. I feel great and this saved my life. | |

| Hi
I can understand that you want the band out and want the sleeve immediately with no rest time, but can I advise you to be very very careful.
I had my band out (I'd had a slip, and the band had been there for 4 years). My surgeon refused to do the sleeve for 4 months. he says the risk of a leak due to scar tissue and adhesions from the bad are enormous, and he refused to take the chance (no matter how much I pleaded).
I had the sleeve last November which was actually 51/2 months afterwards - and can I tell you, when I saw the photographs he took during the procedure of the adhesions I had, I am soooo glad I waited.
Think long and hard - don't take what you see as a short cut. There is a good reason why surgeons do NOT want to do this in one go... | |

| Hi jc1975, you just use the inbox up the top of the screen but no worries I have been in touch with my friend. Apparently I just totally made up the name Gleeson, no idea why?? the doctor's name is Brendan Ryan from the Sydney Bariatric Clinic and he operates at Westmead, Campbelltown and some other places too I believe. She thinks he's the bees knees so perhaps see if you can get in touch for a consultation? I have never met hom so its a second hand report. Not sure about the single or double surgery question sorry.

| Not personally Jc1975, but I do know someone here in Canberra who had it done after stalling at a 25kg loss with the band (complicated by having two babies) and went on to have great success with a sleeve. If you PM me I can follow up with her as I believe she had this in Sydney with a Dr Brendan Gleeson (?).

| Hi, I am discussion about going from lap band which I have had for 13 years and so sick of vomiting every night sometime 3 or 4 times a night.... Feeling crap as I don't sleep feeling unwell... I did loose 40 kilos but have put back on half of it. Currently weighing 132 kilos and the recommendation is to change to sleeve.... Thoughts....? And who has had this done in one surgery ? Did all go well? I am talking to different doctor who did lap band as I don't like his attitude to me wanting to remove lap band a few years ago as I was sick of being sick all the time... | |
