Self funded in Public hospital

Hello from another Sunshine Coaster, I'm being sleeved by Dr Victor Liew on the Gold Coast in August.
You do need PHI to see him, but he does not charge any out of pocket fees.
Lots of other ladies here have used their super to help with paying for the surgery, there is lots of info about how to do that.
I joined PHI and have been waiting for my 12 months so that I am covered, like you said, complications could bankrupt someone without it.

I'm wondering if anyone can help me.

Having considered Gastic sleeve surgery for a while now and done quite  a bit of research I am about to make an appointment with George Hopkins for a consult.
From what I have read he has previously done this op for self funded patients in the Royal Brisbane Hospital and I wondered if he still does this. As I don't have PHI the thought of having complications and having to pay for  this myself leaves me in a cold sweat as this could easily bankrupt a person!
I will be hoping to use early release from super but its anyone's guess whether that will be approved.
