| Just like Lovelyslim, I went with Dr Talbot for the Percutaneous Paragastic Balloon Trial. (I met Lovelyslim in Dr Talbots office!) Unfortunately it was not a success for me either. After having the balloon out I put back on the weight and then some. Dr Talbot will be sleeving me next monday!
I think he has a wonderful bedside manner - very honest & straight forward.

Wanting to know what to expect immediately after surgery re pain etc i had my sleeve on tuesday 28th (2 days ago) at kogarah! im still here recovering- i may go home tomorrow or saturday. i originally had a band placed in dec2008 but i hated it so ddr talbot removed the band in aug 2011. as for how it feels- it feels uncomfortable, cant drink fast or breathe deep i got worried that i may have a leak but i was reassured that all is well. i dont feel hungry but i do feel very tired good luck

| Very strange. It must be the health insurance company that's causing the problems. I was only technically 35kg overweight and my insurance company didn't have a problem. The only people who are allowed to have the sleeve are those for whom obesity is considered a 'life threatening' health problem. Otherwise every man and his dog would be having the surgery. The reason why I got through was due to my chronic back problems and depression.
I hope she can find a surgeon who will help her.

| I think the reason this has happened is because your family member has stated that being overweight is not a problem for him/her. Being overweight is life threatening when the BMI is over 35, and/or you suffer depression, and/or you have high blood pressure, and/or you have diabetes, etc. You need these 'extra' circumstances if you are claiming that your state of being overweight is life threatening.
Maybe your relative is not that much overweight and has no other 'extra' circumstance causing him/her problems. This is the same for all surgeons, not just Dr Talbot.

| Hi Everyone
I have a family member going for surgery in a few weeks with Dr Talbot. She has told me he won't put in her letter for APRA "potentionally life threatening" as he is worried about legal ramifications. So APRA will not release her super funds. Did anyone else have this problem with him and if so how did you get around it?
Thanks

| Hi All, I have an appointment tomorrow with Dr Talbot. Had a stomach band put in in Feb 09 and have since lost 46kgs I had the band removed in March 11 due to it slipping. I am now meeting with Dr Talbot to assess the best option for me and my Specialist here in Orange recommended Dr Talbot was the man to speak to and he thinks the Sleeve is what Dr Talbot is what would be recommended for me. I just wanted to say how helpful you have all been I have not spoken to anyone who has had the sleeve and it was only on my post band removal visit to my specialist that I learnt about the sleeve. It sounds like you have all had amazing success with the sleeve and I am hoping I can add to the success stories here! | |

| Dr Talbot operated on my January this year - he's just an incredible surgeon. Quite frankly, I find weight loss with the sleeve virtually effortless. People warned me that all weight loss is difficult - but with the sleeve, it's not. After having 'endured' the lapband through another surgeon, the sleeve is just the easiest weight loss option on the market. My sister also had Dr Talbot for her band and is doing really well with it (unlike me who had the band removed last year in prep for the sleeve). I still think she should get the sleeve in future though, as the vomiting is just so bad with the band. I've never vomited once with the sleeve and feel satisfied all the time foodwise. I'd recommend Dr Talbot to anyone for any WLS - he's honestly saved my life. Aquarius | |
