| some people are in for 2 nights (3days) or like me, 3 nights (4 days). I was not able to go home until I could drink a litre of fluids. There was no way I could do it on day 2, struggled on day 3, but busted to get out by the 4th morning promising i would manage it at home!! If you have any problems or complications, naturally you would be in longer. I think my hubby forgot to bath our little one the whole time, poor thing had a sticky face and skin with dirt stuck everywhere, and was fed tinned spagetti (despite I had prepared food in the fridge!! LOL) | |

Im hoping its only a day or two, i hate to think of my husband trying to run the house/kids while im gone.

| I made my operation date the first appointment with my surgeon. I explained my situation & booked in for 5 weeks later. I told him I wanted it done as soon as possible.I was self funded, so didn't have to wait for PHI or anything like that. I then had to get a heap of blood tests (they took 10 vials!), have an ultrasound to make sure I didn't already have gallstones & probably check out the rest of my insides I guess? I had to see his dietician, psychologist & the other doctor that works with him in his practise. I saw him one more time before the surgery to go through all the results & let me know it was all still going ahead & then I just had to wait for the date. He was very thorough, but that made me feel like I was really being looked after. :) | |

| Hi there. Have a 'bucket list' of questions ready. I had already done a fair bit of research; and my surgeon was ver informative; that at the end of his explanations of 'how it works' I looked at my questions and all were answered or mostly from what I can remember. Yes, all sugeons are different. Some make you have tests; consults with other doctors/specialists, etc. It all depends on the surgeon and the dynamical make up of the patient, on what is ordered extra. I am sure there is a thread on this site in regards to the first consult and what to ask; try the 'Search' button above and that will assist. All the best on your journey. Take care. | |

| Mine has been long and drawnout. My surgery is the 6st Dec. I first went to the Dr about 16 mths ago, but then had to wait for my phi for 12 mths and that kicked in in August this yr but then we had a european holiday planned for end of September till beginning and he thought I would put on a lot of weight, which I didn't so surgery was put off till dec but im almost there now. | |

| i have just decided on a doctor and i have an appointment to see him for the first time this friday, i am just curious how it all goes, i guess it might vary from doctor to doctor, but i am curious about peoples experiences on the first appointment. I am hoping i go in, he tells me this is the date it will happen and then puts me on that VLC diet that i read so much about for a couple of weeks and thats all there is to it. I guess im probably dreaming and thats nothing like how it goes, i am dreading multiple appointments and not having a date set in stone.
can anyone tell me how it was for them?
