Hi all,

I just wanted to write a little update here to let you know that I have my surgery date set - Monday the 16th December. I am both terrified and excited. I feel much better after speaking to the surgeon. My surgeon is going to be Dr Watson in Perth. I tried to get in to see Dr W but he is no longer taking patients outside of the Bunbury area.

Hi Sezjh, welcome to the site. You are in good hands with Dr W and sjog, they are fantastic.I did not have one problem at all.Yes you are more at risk of doing damage to your body with constant yo yo dieting etc,i dont regret having it done for one minute, wish i had it done sooner. Follow exactly what Dr W asks of you and you wont have a problem, stay positive and motivated as to why you are doing this,if you have too many doubts and feel it's not right done do it,being nervous and a little scared is normal for most, many cant wait to get it done as they are so sick of their body and where they are at.I am sure you will do fine and will wonder afterwards what you were being worried about.Good luck.

Hi Sassyjane and sometimes666,

I am having the sleeve soon in Bunbury and I am still unsure about it despite 5 doctors reccommending it! If I had a lower BMI I may not have it done, but yo-yo dieting is a huge health risk too. I hope to have my head around the whole process by the time its done.

Good luck with your decision sometimes666.

Hi sometimes666. Many surgeons go by what your bmi is at the time of consult but it seems this is slowly changing as it is not deemed all that accurate.I did not have an overly high bmi but was overweight with other health issues I needed to get control of by losing weight.be best to have your first consult,go armed with your list of questions and then see how your mind feels about it then.Where in the great southern are you ? I am in Albany and went over to Bunbury to have my sleeve done,I had a dream run with it all and couldn't be happier. Just make sure you ask away at your consult and you may have to also see a dietician and other professionals etc and this can depend on your surgeon, they all vary with what they require of you.

Hi everyone I'm new here; got my referral back in July but have not brought myself to do anything with it yet. I'm 25, BMI of 34. This process is very daunting and I am not sure - what does everyone think about BMI in relation to this surgery? Has anyone had this done with a BMI of 34?
