Symptoms when unwell Empty
PostSubject: Re: Symptoms when unwell   Symptoms when unwell EmptySun 08 Sep 2013, 5:25 am

Hi all I'm back again to update. My surgeon actually told me I didn't need to take a multi vitamin. I went back 2 weeks ago for my check up and was surprised to find out all my blood test were fine, odd considering I had a vomiting virus for 10 days. I spoke to him about feeling sick all the time, vomiting so much and just finding food uncomfortable to eat. I wasn't eatting to quick and I was chewing properly so I couldn't understand what was going on. He said to me it's the size of the bite that most people get wrong, so even though I was chewing it alot and not eatting quickly I was putting to big a bite in my mouth at one time. Before I got the virus I use to eat meals with a teaspoon and everything was great, then after I got sick I forgot and was using a fork. After that appt I went back to my teaspoon and I am so happy to say everything is soooooo much better. I have only vomited once in nearly 3 weeks now and not felt sick either. Everything is back to normal and I couldn't be happier. So as long as I stop eatting when im full, chew properly, don't eat too quickly and don't put too much in one mouthful, everything is great. I don't need nexium either, I only take one on the odd occasion.

Maybe you need to have a stretch done at the opening of the stomach, sometimes it an be too tight and not Allow food to pass thru comfortably .

TamQLD that is exactly how I am. Ever since I was sick with that vomiting virus I am having trouble eatting. I am so hungry that it keeps me awake at night, most times when I eat anything that doesn't disolve I vomit, it feels so uncomfortable when I eat that I don't want to eat. I can't drink water and cordial is t much better anymore so basically living on 2 cups of tea a day. Biscuits hurt a bit after eatting but not as bad because they disolve but even mashed veggies don't feel that good anymore. I am dizzy, getting alot of migranes and just don't feel right. I had my blood tests on Wednesday and have my appt back with my surgeon on Thursday. I have read a few things that make it sound like maybe I need a stretch. I wonder if its possible when I was sick and not eatting for those 2 weeks that my stomach shrunk further with no food going in???? I am away this week end with the family and some friends and not sure how in going to cope not being able to eat properly in front of people who don't know I have had the surgery. I am very happy with the weight loss, just wish I felt better and not sick and wanting to vomit all the time. Thursday can't come quick enough

Jodes - call your surgeon and get in earlier, why wait.

There are a lot of big bad germs out there at the moment and it may be effecting you more because of the smaller stomach so you might not be getting enough nutrients. Can you have soup? Are you able to have some crackers?

Has your surgeon been supportive about the surgery and do they understand how it works?

Hi Jodes78,
I read your post and I'm going though the same thing..I think it is the surgery. I had my surgery in April this year, I have lost 27kgs so far and most of it is due to being nauseous constantly and when I do eat something I feel sick or it feels stuck and I instantly vomit...sometimes nothing comes up at all. It's scary how little your body can live off, I constantly feel hungry and I want to eat but I get deterred because of feeling sick. I just assumed this was the norm after surgery?. I have spoken to my friends who have had the sleeve as well but they haven't experienced the same symptoms as severely as I have. And I was like you also questioning whether I made the right decision and starting to regret the surgery. I basically live on liquids still everything else makes me feel sick. My surgeon said it was normal to go into a period of anorexia after the surgery. I feel like my body is rejecting food and I'm famished!.

Hi guys I'm back again. So I went to the doctors last week about being sick and my stomach being sore. She said it was my inflammation around my tummy from the vomiting and coughing and to take the nexiums to settle it down and thankfully it worked. Her pain in my gut was so bad. So all up I was sick with vomiting on and off for approx 10 days and today is day 14. Although I haven't vomited in the last few days I still don't feel right with eatting and my stomach. In always so hungry but when I eat it doesn't feel right and just makes me feel sick. I'm find it hard to describe how it feels but I know I can't eat properly. I'm drinking flat lemonade or ice blocks ok but struggling to eat food. The first 3 months of surgery were really good and smooth sailing but since getting sick with a virus my doctor said it just hasn't been the same. I have blood tests due next week and then back to my surgeon the following week. I'm just worried because I can't eat it doesn't feel comfortable and I'm not sure if its just because I've been sick of or for some reason it has to do with my surgery all of a sudden now. Has anyone experienced anything like this. I have lost 18kgs in 3 months which I think is massive. I just wish I could eat because I'm starting to regret having the surgery if its because of that :-(

Even after seeing your GP - I would still ring your surgeon and discuss it with them.  There is a lot of nasty bugs going around at the moment - I was in bed for 5 days with fevers, vomitting, the squirts, full body aches etc. I barely eat or drank anything in that time which didn't help - and when the coughing started I ached even more.

I was given penicilian and was taking panadol to keep the fevers under control - but it was still another 3 or 4 days before I was feeling more human again.

Hope you are feeling better soon ...

Symptoms when unwell Empty
PostSubject: Symptoms when unwell   Symptoms when unwell EmptyThu 01 Aug 2013, 4:08 am

Hi everyone, I was sleeved 3 months ago and all has been going well. I have been sick since Saturday with flu like symptoms and have been finding it really really hard to eat much or drink much because I don't feel like eatting Adams I don't feel well. I went to the hospital last night and they gave me antibiotics and said I had sinus infection. I don't agree with the diagnosis because my stomach hurts sometimes, not all the time but I'm not sure if its because I'm hungry or not, it's a different feeling of hunger to before. I'm vomiting on and off but not much an nothing's coming up. I have a really bad cough, runny nose, sore stomach and feeling unwell all the time. I am seeing my gp at 3pm to see whether she thinks I need to see my surgeon. Just wondering what sorts of things others have experienced when sick after having the sleeve. I'm probably dehydrating but its so hard to drink at the best of times but u feel really sick too its near impossible
