| Hi - I was banded in 2007, and had it removed in Feb of this year. I lost a lot of weight with the band. You do need to be vigilant with the band, if you eat too much or the wrong foods or if the fill is too tight, then you will regurgitate - not pleasant. But you suffer the same with Sleeve or Bypass.
Other issues caused me to have the band removed, my surgeon would not even consider the sleeve after the band, we went straight to Bypass.. This is a slow process I have only lost 10 ks since May when I had by Bypass... but I am hoping for the best.
Discuss all your options with your GP do the research and listen to the advice by the professionals.

| Hi, I am a ex bander and now have the sleeve, I found the band to be a pain in the ribs, any time I bent over something it would hurt as the port would get caught under my rib, when I rolled over onto my left side it seemed to dig into my lung and make air come out. Then there was the foods that would go down one day but not the next, the excessive build up of thick slimy spit, lots of vomiting. The sleeve has been so much easier o live with and I am only one month out. After having both, I would recommend the sleeve over the band. Love Btgirl | |

| I never had the band but one thing I can say is the ridiculous amount of people I've met since i started this journey 10months ago who have then converted to sleeve or bypass because of so many issues with the band. Also a very high number who had the band and it caused so much damage they either couldn't then have a sleeve or bypass, or they did then convert and had major medical issues as a result.
I've had a very tough time after my sleeve but seen so many successes I am a big advocate for the surgery and firmly believe it is a great permanent weightloss tool.
As for a surgeon who has done 30, well they all need to start somewhere tho my surgeon probably does almost that a month, plus bypass, band etc etc so I agree with Tara that you might want to research other options.
Good luck with your decision.

| S,
Yeah it does all make your head spin a bit.
It'd be great if you have a few months to do all your research and let it settle in your mind before jumping in to anything.
As for your surgeon, you are right, 30 is not a lot of Sleeve surgeries but have a bit of a look if he is experienced in (OMG I have forgotten the word) "guts" surgeries.
Maybe you could travel for your surgery to a more experienced Surgeon.

| I think Im just scared as it can not be reversed. I have a young family so its.the thought of the risks espeacially long term. I have been been researching so much thst my heads spinning. Another thing that worried me was I just found out that my surgeon has only done 30 sleeves so Im unsure if this classes him as experienced or unexperienced. | |

| Yeah I have.
I've had 2 lap bands and had the Sleeve done on April 30th of this year.
Oh my gosh I just LOVE the Sleeve.
I can eat what ever I want when ever I want just in smaller portions.

| Smeirly,
I'm trying to think how to word this nicely .....
DO NOT GET A LAPBAND !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They are horrible (I've had 2) and you cannot eat sooooooo many foods and end up spewing ALL the time. A LOT a band people end up getting a Sleeve in the end anyway.
Of course do lots of research so you know what is right for you but I seriously doubt it would be the band !
Have a bit of a read through the "Band to Sleeve" topics.
All the best with your decision, Tara
