| Hi
I used the same Surgeon that did my band.
Made an appointment to see him, then discussed the money situation. He was happy to Bulk Bill, but had to pay for the Gas Man.
Please make an appointment and go and see him, and discuss everything.

| Mandy - don't be embarrassed to ask the surgeons about costs. Every surgeon is different and charges different. where are you located? | |

| Hi, I had my band out in March by the surgeon who put it in and my only expense was $140.00 hospital cost. My sleeve is covered by my health fund but my surgeon has a booking fee of $2300 and as I have already had a stay in the hospital this year there is no other charge. Btgirl | |

| Hi Mandy,
This is my very first post. I am having my band out on Friday 19th, in prep for sleeve in July.
I originally contacted my surgeon to get more fill put in my band. He told me that I was one of the last few of his old band patients who are eligible for the sleeve free of 'his' charge. I think it was part of the clause when I had had the band 8 years ago, that if it 'failed', additional surgery would be covered. But apparently more recent bands are not covered.
When he says 'no charge'...it's just his fee.
For each surgery (one for band out, one for sleeve) I still need to pay for the anaes. plus the assistant surgeon. Plus my hospital excess and all of the other specialists.
I will still have a large out of pocke expense by the time the sleeve is done. And that's considering my surgeons service is free.
I'm sure it will be worth every cent.

| Hi all, im new to this site. Can anyone advise if they used the same surgeon that intially did the lap band to do the sleeve and whether they paid the full cost again?
I had my band out 5 years ago due to an infection I developed after a C section. My financial circumstances have changed now and I guess the only thing that is stopping me getting the sleeve surgery is the cost . Im a bit embarrased to ring and ask what the cost would be since the first one was a failure even though I have heard some patients dont pay to have another bariatric procedure after the 1st one has failed.
