| Hi all
Sorry have not responded since I first posted this conversation but I thought I should give you an update.
On 12/12/12 I had my band removed and sleeved, I was in for approx 2.5 hours of surgery and all went well the dr said their was a couple of lesions but that was to be expected. I came out in a lot of pain from gas but within a couple of hours that subsided and I had no drain. I was on no pain killers from about 6 hours post op and was up and about at around this time although very groggy from the anesthetic.
I was home after 2 nights in hospital and felt ok just a few niggling pain spots over the first 5 days post op. I am now 3.5 weeks post op and am feeling normal, I am on a purée/mushy diet and some soft foods.
I lost 5.3 kg the first week post op and have only lost 1kg over the last 2.5 weeks I am told that it is normal to have a bit of a stall between weeks 2-4 and am sure hoping it will start to move again soon.
I am keen to hear how you other band to sleevers are going with weight loss.

| Lyne I was told the biggest leak time was the first 6 weeks and by 3 months you were pretty much in the clear ( though my doc said the first week was the big one)
I too found that after the first week I felt "normal" much less impeded than I was 7 days after the band. In fact I was shocked at how good I felt after such a big operation.
Glad your doing well hon and looking forward to watching you progress

Good luck with the recovery ... just take things slowly, we ex-banders are at higher risk of a leek, so it is really important to sip sip sip I think I was lucky too for getting both surgery in one. Here in Canada this is how they do it. I could say that the only thing that is worring me a little is that it could leek. Do anyone know if that risk last for a long time? How long after the surgery you can be sure that you are out of trouble with the risk of leeking. Right now I feel really good. No pain killer at all and I go around easily. You would not be able to tell that I was under surgery 7 days ago. Of course I am not top shape but I am surprised with the way I feel today. I am getting my staples removed today and this will probably show me how I really feel. I will get back to you with the evolution. thanks for the support

| Hello,
My surgery was done on November 21st as planned. Things were a little rough for the first 3 days but I am feeling much better now. I think that the doctors pushed my out of the hospital a little early because I was home after 24 hours only. To be honnest that was the most difficult thing I went thru. I did not take the pain killer because they were making me feel dizzy and sea sick all the time. Right now I am on semi liquid diet, Creamy soup, yougourt, and baby fruit and of course the protein for 2 more days. To be honnest the pain comes more from my cut on the diaphragm than the stomach itself. That is about it for now...

| Hi Lyne
Congrats on making the decision to get rid of the band and have the sleeve done.
I had my band out in June and am having my sleeve done tomorrow.
Ditto everything Trishah has said. My house is clean and I have made some soups that have been pulverised in my processor, I can adjust the thickness when I thaw them out. I also have a variety of different liquids such as Opti, sustagen and up and go just to make things a bit varied. Always make sure you buy products that have a high quantity of protein in them.
I've also got my vitamin supplements ready to roll.
Good luck with your surgery, it will be here before you know it.

| Just relax and make sure you have everything done at home so you can rest up after the op. Make sure you have a variety of liquids for the pre op because your palate will be a bit whacky and what you like post op you will prob hate afterwards.
Stick to protein first and your docs diet guidelines and enjoy the resulting weightloss.
This is much easier than a banded life. Though the weightloss tends to be slower it is much more pleasant in that you can eat steak and chicken and fruit and salads. Its a much healthier and rounded diet.
keep in contact as we love to hear how everyone goes.

| I am getting my surgery on November 21st. They are removing the band and make the sleeve in one surgery. I am a little nervous. I had my band replaced 2 years ago because it slipped and after that the port stared to leek so the replaced the port and then, I don't know why, things started to go wrong for me. I was putting on pounds instead of loosing. So I decided to go for the sleeve... I am nervous but can't wait to get it done.
Any advice for be before I get my surgery done?

| This is the first day that I feel semi normal. Very minimal pain killers, which is nice coz they aren't do easy to go down. I went shopping today and have been up since 5am so I'm exhausted now so an early night for me :) | |

| So I had my surgery on Thursday. All went well. I had a drain in for Thursday, Friday and was taken out the middle of Saturday. The drain was probably the worst thing (really uncomfortable and painful). The Dr said it took him 3 hours just to remove the band from my stomach (which explains why I was quite sore and miserable for a couple of days) and then however long it was to do the sleeve so my op went from being 2-2.5 hours to about 4-5. Starting to feel normal again and managing to get liquids down :) | |

| Hiya, Val here met you in Justins office.
I think there are a few people who went from Band to Sleeve in one go on this forum. Some one will reply. Better than having 2 lots of Surgery.
Good luck with your Surgery, you will do great. Please keep us posted.
