| Hi De I had an opeartion there 3 years ago and have to say it is very over rated!!! The nursing staff are certainly no where near as good as other hospitals, I rang the bell for the nurse the morning after my op and gave up after 20 minuates!!! I had narrowed done my sleeve surgery to two surgeons and chose the one I did because he operates at st john of god and the other operated at mount.

| I can't recommend St Johns at Subi highly enough the staff were always there when you needed them and nothing was too much trouble for any of them. I wouldn't recommend Mount Hospital to anyone : ((

| Hi De,
I disagree with Sunnie, I highly recommend the Mount Hospital. I just had my sleeve op there last Wednesday and honestly can't find fault with it. The nursing staff were brilliant, extremely good after care and I don't have a bad word to say. Good luck with choosing your hospital. If your happy with your surgeon I would simply go wherever he operates from as at the end of the day he is doing the major part of it but yep like I said I highly recommend the Mount!

| I have to agree with Sunnie I was operated on at Mounts last Oct, and I am sorry but the nurses really lacked in the "caring" dept! I also rang my bell for over 30 min before getting a response, not good enough in any ones books!! ;( they where lovely but the response was terrible I would have hated to have been in real distress!! | |

| Hey Kate,
Thanks for the feedback! Im having my sleeve there on October 15th, my surgeon has his rooms there and I had my band at a private hospital in Rockingham.
A little bit concerning that it took them so long to respond to you, given the nature of the procedure you think the'd be really attentive...

I had my surgery at the mount in September and have nothing but glowing reports- the nurses were really fabulous and gave help whenever I needed it. I would definitely recommend it!

| I can't say from personal experience... But I am a nurse and used to work at a private hospital in Perth (not the mount) but I worked with at least two nurses who had left The Mount saying they would not go back to work there.... To me that says enough, but again it's not my personal experience. | |

| This is not sleeve related, but my family have not had a good experience with this hospital. My Dad had surgery on his back a few years ago and had a severe allergic reaction to one of the many drugs he was given. The reaction happened a couple of days after discharge, and since he lives in the SW, he went to see his local GP. He sent him to a specialist Dermatologist in Perth who was trying to get a drug list from the hospital to try to work out which drug it was. Needless to say the Hospital tried to cover everything up and was not interested in helping my Dad or the Dermatologist at all. All they could do was treat the symptoms, but he still has no idea what drug cased the problem.
A year or so ago, My Dad had a Heart Attack and needed to be flown to Perth for treatment. He was in extreme pain and very worried about dying and the only thing he said was I AM NOT GOING TO THE MOUNT. I arranged for him to go to SJOGH Murdoch and his treatment was first class. I always use SJOGH where possible as their service is second to none.
I hope that place gets their shit together!!

| Not having spent any time in hospital prior to my procedure, I have no experience to compare it to, but I found the nursing staff at the Mount to be very attentive and supportive. I would recommend the Mount (and have) to anyone looking at getting this surgery. | |
