| Hi Amboanni! It's so good hearing people's stories one year, two years on. I like to imagine myself at that stage. What I did want to say, was my surgeon has printed up lamented cards that say we have had a surgical procedure which has reduced our stomach capacity to 100gr & it would be greatly appreciated if we could order a smaller portion or from the kid's menu. I'm only just 6 weeks out & haven't eaten out yet, so haven't had to use it, but I'm sure I will closer to Xmas. Maybe you could contact your surgeon's office about getting something similar? | |

| Hey Me,
Good luck with your surgery there is no looking back. As far as eating goes I eat anything and everythings no restrictions you just have to make it count if you really want something.
On a bad day pizza is the fav and I can only have 2 slices max. depending on the base Good day I do lite n easy just so I ensure I eat properly, and the dinners if its meat and veg I can half almost exactly half of whats in the frozen meal, the lunches wraps with cold meat or chick and little bit of salad.
I mostly try to eat healthy foods, but as you know that bad foods always seem to come into every now and again, its just no where near as much.
Portion sizes are definitely way smaller, but I eat when I want to and have what I want to no specific diet now. I hope this helps
Am happy to support you in any way
Good luck Anne x |

| Hi, you look fantastic, go girl.
I am penciled in for surgery for the 9 Dec 2013.
I am really interested to know what a days food eating plan is for you (now you are 2 years out from having had the sleeve).
Would you kindly write this up and post it please?

| So here's my story I am 38 years old. I have battled with my weight every since I was in school in high school I weighed just over 110kgs in year ten at my biggest. After leaving school I just yo-yo ed with my weight with diet after diet after diet.
My career goal was to become a Paramedic, but after trying 8 times with no luck my husband and I thought if I cant have that dream then we maybe we could have a baby, so off the pill I went only to find out that a few months later that I had gone into early menopause at the age of 27, from then on I just could not shift any weight and I carried it all in the abdomen region a classic apple shape. Big tummy with little legs and arms lol my waist line was 120cm prior to the surgery, and then as fate would have it on my 9th attempt I got scored my dream job and started as Paramedic.
After so many unsuccessful diets my friend had the gastric sleeving done and she had some dramatic results, so I gave it some real thought, and working the health industry I have seen some pretty ill and heavily overweight people and with blood pressure and diabetes running in my family my main goal was to be fit and healthy and not have a heart attack before I am 40, and I also wanted to look good in my uniform as it means so much to me, so I booked in to see Dr Taylor who was just simply amazing.
Whilst I was not a overally big I weighed 96 kilos when I saw him, I was right in the cusp of the BMI in the obese range and I thought he was going to say "NO" sorry try try again. When said "YES" I cried as I have tried so many times to lose the weight and as most of us have tried probably some of the hardest diets in your life.
I had the surgery in August 2011 and 2 years on I now weigh 57kgs and have lost a total of 39kgs. I never thought in a million years would I ever be in my 50's nor would I ever lose nearly 40kgs.
I was a size 18 in most clothes prior to the surgery, I now wear a size 8-10 in everything now.
My mind still has not caught up on this and I don't see what others see but I am getting there. My confidence is through the roof and I look fantastic all dressed up, and I am proud to say that I think I look awesome in my uniform now lol.
My goal was to lose 30kgs with the surgery, without it I was lucky to lose 10 and keep it off.
I admit I still battle a few food demons, but I hope to never ever put back on that weight, I have learnt to listen to my stomach and eat everything baby size.
I do feel offended when I eat out and ask for a kids meal and get refused even if I offer to pay full price, but I just try to work around that and I still have my bad days, but I guess they are no where near as bad as before the surgery.
This has changed my life and there is no looking back.
Working in the healthcare profession I see what being overweight does to your health and I can only say that whilst sleeving to some people seems like an easy option, its not just that its a lifestyle change with assistance to help you build a new one and learning to re eat like a kid which we all forget somewhere along the line.
One of my rewards when I lost 30kgs was to get a tattoo represent my weight loss journey as a reminder to never go back and I will pin a pic, the fairy is me and their are 3 butterflies representing 10kgs benchmarks and then 27 stars to make up the 30kgs and its super personal but I love it.
If someone can tell how you can post before and after pics I would love to post them up :) |
