| Such a comfort to know that others have stalled as well!
I was sleeved in November 2013 and to date have lost 17kgs... all of that before Feb 2014. I have been stalled ever since! Has anyone had this issue?
I've been fluctuating up and down between 107 and 109 for the last 2 months. Any advice? | |

| Lioness don't forget that you have been carrying around all those extra kilos (like everyone else here) and you DO have heaps of muscle. The aim is to not loose too much during the fat burning part of loosing weight. Its tricky and that's why we have to keep our protein count up. Also if you keep your carb count as low as you can you will stay in ketosis like when you were on Optifast and that is what makes the body burn the fat. |

| My weight loss has stalled dramatically since end of jan, to date i have only lost 10kg since xmas day, most of that happened by end of jan. I've been hovering around the same weight for about 4 weeks, and its driving me nuts, i still have 40kg to go, so i'm nowhere near goal. I too was starting to think my scales were faulty, but they work ok when i make my partner weigh in, his always changes up and down. I feel in my body i'm getting smaller because i now fit into jeans i couldn't only 2 weeks ago, but i'm not building muscle because i don't exercise. Its crazy, i just want it to hurry up and move again. Maybe there is something in the eating chocolate thing thats been mentioned? i went to max Brenner last night and today i dropped 200g.........maybe i should eat more melted choc lol | |

| Hi Minnie, afraid I am not very encouraging for you here... I gained about 400g today. I seem to be hovering around 119.6 to 110.4. Can't find the reason why. My food intake i think is ok, ie, protein, fluids, calories (I don't count them but on looking back at my diary, really the quantities are small regardless and I'm not eating junk). I'm, not exercising as I'm too tired all the time, so it's not muscle gain either! I do have hashimotos - thyroid problem, and because of the big initial weight loss it's thrown my thyroid balance out and I have to adjust the meds which takes 6weeks per increment of adjustment, so I am not sleeping much either. Not sleeping for me is the biggest culprit for weight gain as the body slows right down to cope. I sent my food intake to the nurse today, hoping she could shed light on the subject...waiting to hear from her, and waiting for that great sudden drop on the scales! Good thing is nothing I can do about it now, can't get depressed about it and binge and gain the weight I've already lost!! And even if I lost no more, I have added years to my life - diabetes and blood pressure gone already. All the best to you tomorrow, Minniemouse! | |

| Hi Jagxclusive - have the scales still not moved at all? I'm so sorry, that must be incredibly infuriating for you! How many calories are you having a day if you don't mind me asking? I'm being sleeved tomorrow so I'm keen to see how others are responding so early in the piece! All the best | |

| could be right, my body may have decided to go into starvation mode and make me survive for 10 years on a grain of rice I think... I have eaten nuts and avacado though, so I would think its plenty of calories there... time will tell. Haven't tried chocolate yet snoop, but i did have to lick chocolate icing off my fingers the other day... lol.. and oh, i did start with a teaspoon of nutella... just one... hmmm, maybe I am eating too much !!! Ugh! Time will tell I guess.. waiting, waiting, waiting for the scales to move down!!! | |

| I'm not saying this is a good idea or that it will work for some, however my friends swears that the three times he has stalled, he has forced himself to consume a fair amount of chocolate which has shocked his system back to losing again. I guess the stalling process is the body's way of trying to stay alive as you are losing so much weight so quickly, it thinks its starving. | |

| I had a stall right near the start Jagx. When I saw the dietician, she thought I wasn't eating enough & that was why I wasn't losing. I think I was only eating about 600calories at the time & when I increased closer to 800 cals I began losing again. Maybe you're not eating enough either? When I've dieted in the past & lost weight, sometimes when I'd plateau, just changing my diet around a bit would be enough to start losing weight again. I tend to find things I like & then eat the same things most days. Sometimes you just need to change it up a bit, like they say with exercise as well, to change it when your body gets used to it. I'm no expert of course! :) | |

| 5weeks and 5 days out and I've stalled now for about 3 weeks. My weight sits every morning at 109.8kg, I had one where it went up a few hundred grams and then its back to this weight. I am beginning to think my digital scales are absolutely stuck there. But I measure my waist every morning, and its the same, 110cm. I don't feel like I am losing at all now. I write what i eat, although its definately not what i should be eating, it's protein and can't possibly be too many calories in a day. I am getting in my fluids, I am too tired to exercise, but am doing my usual things, and not sleeping much, which I think is the biggest problem. Seems weird that whenever I used to 'diet' , the most i could lose was 20kg and then I'd give up... it feels like my body will only let go of 20kg and despite what I eat, it's decided that's enough. At least I can't blow it now by doing what I used to do! The sleeve is forcing me to perservere where normally I would give up. I don't expect to get to healthy bmi, but another 15kg off would be kinda nice! I know stalls happen.. but for how long before enough is enough? | |

| A freak out is normal, but trust me you WILL lose again! I think my longest plateau was about 4 weeks......drove me mental! Now I don't even stress, the scales will go up and down a bit but then they continue going down :) I got stuck around the 77 mark for about the last 3 weeks, but now I'm moving again and am 75 :) | |

| Hi
Well I have read that a lot of people have a stall and I am now 4 weeks post op and last weigh saw my weight stay the same. Despite eating my mushies and exercising.
Even though I know weeks 2-4 are notorious for stalls, I am still struggling to accept this.
Prob stems from being a lapband failure, I do not want to be a sleeve failure too. One side of my brain is going its cool, the other side is going nuts lol.
How did everyone else deal with their stalls, and what is the average length of stall?
Cheers | |
