| I agree with D'girlz, your body changes shape and totally different things look good. I was wearing floaty tops as that looked better 20kg ago. But now despite still having a long way to go i am finding something with more shape is looking better. I even had a sales lady the other day suggest i try on this stretch long top with 3/4 sleeves that you would wear over leggins. I have tried this so much before as it looks so comfy but never worked for me over my thighs. Anyway it looked good for a change. Still not keen on the leggins though so will wear over my new tight country road jeans in another 5kg loss. | |

| I used to go to KMart and Target by myself and just get armfuls of clothes and try them on. The sales people really dont care what you do - pretty anonymous. It also helps get your mind where you are body wise/size wise. As you lose weight, your body changes shape, different styles etc. What used to look ok on my shape - no longer does. So you need alot of changes of clothes and time to be confident in what you purchase. The big department stores allow you this where little boutiques dont. Hope you learn to enjoy the experience. | |

| hey Belinda,
Yay on your weight loss to date sweetie!!!
I am not sure of your height but we are quite similar with initial weights and weight now. I am 163ish cm. I am now getting close to the big clothes in small stores sections so keep your chin up and dont go back to rude stores but do have a look around. Things that fit me at the moment so should fit you now or soon.
Peter alexander size XL PJ's
Some Witchery size 14 tops
A brand i love at boutiques and DJ's 'Katherine' tops size 16
Most Country Road Tops XL
I am pretty bottom heavy so am still in target size 18 pants most of the time. Have bought some country road size 16 stretch jeans that i can pour myself into but think i will weight another 5or so kg before i wear out in public.
So have a look around and be positive. even if you are a shorty like me i reckon you will have some success.
Let us know how you go

| Don't think you can't get to a size 6-8. I bought a pair or Esprit skinny jeans yesterday that are a size 8 and fit perfectly. And once I would have said that if I got to a size 10 I would be ecstatic. But there you go.
But age inappropriate - perhaps not.
Why don't you choose yourself something you would love to wear in a size 16 and have it as your "dream" outfit. | |

| Thats a great idea Caz! Thanks :-)
LOL my daughter is a ladies size 6/8! She is so incrediably tall and very thin, but she is only 12. I would have to have body dismorphia to think I would fit into anything in those stores, but the assistant was so rude about it! To be honest, I really have no desire to wear the clothes in that ladies store as they are totally age inappropriate.

| You said you were looking for clothes for your daughter. What size is she? Perhaps just buy yourself one thing in a size 16 (or whatever is the largest size you think you can get in a store) and keep it at home and try on occasionally. When that fits, you can shop in that store?
Just a thought! | |

| For the last couple of years, I have only been able to buy clothes in plus size stores as the "plus size" clothing in Big W, target etc didnt fit. Now I am losing weight, I have started thinking about shopping elsewhere.
While I am not ready to leave Autograph or Mysize behind, I was wondering when people started to look at clothes in stores that are not aimed at plus size people? I bought a pair of winter PJs from Big W last week and had to buy a size 26, even though I bought clothing in a size 20 from Autograph on the same day!
I dont want to be emabarressed by looking at clothers or clothes not fitting in other stores, as just after my surgery, I was looking in a clothing store for clothes for my daughter and the sales assistant almost ran up to me and said "we have nothing in here that will fit you". I felt awful and now worry about looking around.
I look forward to your answers.
Thanks guys,
Belinda | |
