| He usually lets his patients stay for three nights but because I'm from the country I stayed for four nights. He's very relaxed and if you don't feel comfortable going home he won't make you. He works out of Ashford - the nurses are fantastic. You may spend a night in HDU hooked up to monitors etc, just FYI. I had virtually no bruising on my belly, five incisions. The incisions are stitched on the inside and then glued on top - so by the looks there will be no scarring at all (fingers crossed). The dietician will visit you in hospital, but I didn't find her that helpful. I blame the meds for that rather than any incompetence on her part - I was just a bit too out of it to really take in what she said. She gives you the option of visiting her post surgery at Michael's consulting rooms at the Ashford Specialist Clinic, which is adjacent to the hospital. He will book you in for a post op consult two weeks post op. Prior to surgery you may have to go on Optifast shakes. I was put on them for four weeks (my bmi was 40) I also held a lot of weight on my tummy. Hope this helps Caroline.. | |

| Hi Kity1_cat and welcome to the forum. There is a lot of discussion on the band to sleeve thread that you will probably find appropriate to read. I too was worried about the sleeve being permanent but honestly once you lose the weight why on earth would you ever want to reverse the sleeve (if you could) and put it all back on. It is a very daunting thought at the start but read as much about peoples experiences, thoughts and opinions as you can, it really helped me. Everyone here is very friendly supportive and honest.

| Hi, I am a newie to this forum..I came across it and I found it wonderful for information and community spirit. I have had a band for 2 1/2 years....not happy..no weight loss....very disapointed. I am thinking of sleeve bt I am very scared as it is irreversable. What is the best place in Adelaide to have it done?
