| Hi Ian
Some surgeons dont worry about a pre op diet and encourage their patients like you to just try and lose some weight before the surgery. I wouldnt worry to much about it. So many doctors recommend so many different things.
Good Luck tomorrow. I was done just over a week ago.
Keep us posted with your journey.

| Hi Cashback and welcome to the forum. As I'm sure you've noticed all surgeons have different pre and post op guidelines to follow so I wouldn't worry about not being told to do optifast. Maybe start a diary in The Diary section and keep track of your achievements and progress. Other sleevers can keep up with your progress as well. I wish you all the best for your surgery tomorrow and for a smooth recovery. Let us know when you can how you are getting on.

| welcome to the site Ian.
Many surgeons require a diet of optifast meal replacement shakes to get rid of fat around the liver before surgery to make it a bit easier.
good luck with your surgery tomorrow. Keep in touch and let us know how you are getting on.
Best wishes

| Hi Everyone,
I found this forum when doing a bit of research in the run-up to my surgery and it has been most valuable reading about people's experiences and advice.
My surgery is tomorrow, 10th March. I am having it done in the Gulf where I live and work.
I keep seeing people on here referring to 'Optifast' but I have not been advised to follow anything like that. My surgeon did suggest I try to lose a couple of kilos before the surgery when I saw him last week. I don't think I have lost anything though. Today I am fasting from lunchtime except for water and tea. My surgery is in the morning at around 8am.
I hope to share my experiences here and hopefully learn more from yourselves as I go along.
