| As the other ladies have mentioned I also was on liquids for 2 weeks, puree for 2 weeks then mushy/soft for 4 weeks before going on to a full menu. As discussed on here all the time every surgeon has their own post op guidelines to follow. Just because you can start on mushy food doesn't mean that your body is ready for it. Everything is trial and error and perhaps for you mushy food is too soon right now. My surgeon is quite strict with what you can and can't have and at what stage but he is all about not putting any pressure on the staple line. Even now after 6 months if I've been away and eating different things to what I eat at home I find I revert back to an opti bar for lunch to give my tummy a rest. Good luck with the rest of your recovery and if you are still worried contact your surgeon for his/her advice.

| Thankyou for the feedback, I am still feeling terrible four hours later and ended up having to vomit, i am so scared that i have caused a tear or leak in the sleeve. I am going back to liquids immediately. | |

| Rainbow, my guess is that the food was too thick in consistency for what your tummy can tolerate. You were only sleeved just over a week ago. Many surgeons keep their patients on liquids for two weeks.
Try to thin out what you are eating, and using a teaspoon, just dip it in and lick it off the teaspoon . | |

| Hi All,
I had my sleeve done on the 1st of march, so last thursday. Tonight i started my mushy food stage and had a tin of baby food which was spaghetti bolognese, it was great and mushy. I had four spoons, turned bright red and started to get this familiar feeling of needing to spit, it was stuck but i just wanted to vomit, (used to have a band too), i ran to the toilet, went to make myself throw up automatically but stopped myself from fear i could hurt the staple line. Ever since then i have been brining up spit for about 30 minutes. I really dont understand what happened because i went slowly, i hadnt eaten anything for hours beforehand and i only have four spoons and not big ones. Has anyone else experienced this? Should i stop mushy and go back to liquids longer or did my body just reject that food?
Thanks for any help! | |
