| Hi everyone,
I am getting better now. But sore, which is expected with a band removal as well.
I kept off the forum when I was sick for obvious reasons.
But getting stitches out this Friday so on the way up now.

| Yes I believe so, i was doing really well and the reflux is unbearable apparently the acidity level in my tiny tummy is working like battery acid, burning it away - it is quite rare for this to happen.

| Hi Tigga, have been reading all about your issues with the sleeve, sorry to hear about the problems. I remember you as I think we were sleeved about the same time October 09. I hope everything works out with the bypass. I was wondering if I could ask was the weight gain due to reflux issues. Thanks V | |

| No haven't had a gastrectomy for years.
My surgeon just wants to check, as he repaired a very large hiatus hernia before he sleeved me, plus need to be sure the anti reflux meds are working as last gastrectomy I had oesophageal ulceration.

| Never heard of a Bravo Test, had to google to see what it was, know now!
My surgeon is going to do a Gastroscopy in a couple of months to check things are OK. I miss my anti-reflux tab, and by lunchtime I have reflux!! I am usually very good with my meds, but if I skip breakfast I am out of routine and usually forget my meds! I know not good!! LOL!!

| Hi Tigga,
I'm having the bypass this Tuesday, and a band removal. Don't worry it has a great result. so I am told. It can be reversed so I have been told, if you are having the Roux one.
Kind regards,
Lisa | |

| Hi Jannette, Yea I have tried the meds, I have tried Gluten Free, I had a Bravo Test done in Jan, results thru the roof. talked long and hard with the Dr, feel this is the best option for me. So I wed 29th Feb I will have the bypass, I have spoken with a few people I know and I am comfortable now iwth my decision. not easy though you work so hard but there is always a rainbow you just have to find it. how have you been. | |

Hi Annette, sorry to hear you are having problems with reflux, requiring you to have a bypass. Hope it fixes the problem. I get reflux also, but I can control mine with meds, and a good diet. Wishiing you all the best for your surgery. Let us know how you get on.

- Hi everyone,
I saw my specialist today and he suggested gastric bypass. I am getting both the band out and getting the bypass on the same day 21st Feb at Valley Private Mulgrave. With Ray McHenry. Having the optifast/slim dietician said I could have either. For 2 weeks. Have had a band for over 10 years. Last night ate pineapple (fresh) ended up with it all in the toilet, very painful. Is there many whom have had this procedure? Also how do I start a diary. Do I just go to the diary section and post a new topic?
Kind regards,
Lisa Hi lisa I too have Ray as my specialist, he did my band 3 years ago and im having it out in august aswell as having the sleeve done (at the valley also :) ) What made him suggest the bypass for you? Im worried i wont lose enough weight with the sleeve. And i may possibly have a bit of a sweet tooth..lol. The bypass looks even scarier but i think it might be another option for me to consider. Good luck with opti coming up and with your op Jess :)

| Hi, I had a bypass 29/11/10. I've lost 58kg and have 10kg to go. I feel great. It's a very good op for those with insulin resistance/diabetes and those with a sweet tooth. The side effect of dumping after eating too much sugar/refined carbs keeps me on the straight and narrow. Hunger is no longer a problem for me. I have absolutely no regrets. All the best to you. | |
