| Hi. a) Surgery day. wishing you a quick recovery b) There is only one medication that I won't be able to crush but I think I will have to open the capsule to get it the medicine. c) slower weight loss, one advantage might be that your body bounces back into shape compared to the rapid weight loss. Not too sure but could be a good thing, as long as it is coming off. Cheers | |

| Hi there
I'm a mega doses of cymbalta for my head and for fibromyalgia. I saw the dietician today and asked that very same question. She firstly I won't have the cravings because of retraining your brain in the first 8 weeks which also includes the weeks your opti. Next if for some reason you do eat for depression your new tiny tummy won't be able to handle it. If u even have more than 1 tsp than your tummy can handle you'll be incredibly uncomfortable so won't do that again. She said to me this is one of the best options those whi are on mega meds. All her clients that are on anti depressants are doing exceptional.
Good luck and just take it one day at a time. If a problem does rise talk with your dietician & dr
All the best! | |

| thanks guys that helps to know that im not alone and i will loose the weight. i understand i may loose it slower but thats ok im happy with that.
the thing is over the past 12 mths ive been trying my butt off to loose weight with my band only to fail and then i get upset and then run to the food and put more weight on than what i started with.
cant wait to start, all ive been thinking bout is what if it doesnt work for me with my medication, it will be nice to start seeing results and start dreaming of the old thinner me again! | |

| Good Luck for tomorrow.
Now on the subject of your meds and weight loss, i had very similar worries as my GP had used the medication makes you fat excuse for years, and of course i was happy to accept that as it made my weight not my fault.
The answer to your question though is yes you will drop weight with the sleeve, regardless of what meds you take. What may happen is your loss may be a little slower than someone else of similar size, and as i say to every sleever never compare your losses to someone elses, we are all different and lose at different rates, the one thing we do share as sleevers however is we will all lose the excess weight we carry.
As for cravings, so far i can't say ive had any, i do however have thoughts of i fancy eating (insert food of your choice here), but that is pretty much how i plan my meals now, i have no hunger pangs at all ( i get an empty feeling if i wait to long between meals) so for me it is a case of i must eat so what do i fancy, and the interesting thing here the foods i now fancy tend to be healthy and are based more on taste and texture, my sweet tooth has all but disapeared after 40 plus years.
Hope this eases your concerns a little.

| hi Bek
Do not worry about your meds, I am on a high dose of Lexapro to help me with my Bi polar 2, and I have not found it difficult since having the sleeve done, My weight loss is not as rapid as some but since the 28th October I have lost just over 25 kilos, so it is all good as far as I am concerned. My only advice is that sometimes I think I am hungry and I know that I shouldn't be so instead I have some water or go do something different, just keep my mind off the idea of eating. My mind works in mysterious ways sometimes!
I hope that this is some help, and all the best for tomorrow.

| we im having abit of a moment!. im in tomorrow as some may know but what is worrying me is im going to go though all of this and get no where.
done the band thing worked when i first got it done but after my kids were born it sucked and i started on alot of anti-depresants and am still on them all now. my psych says its for life baby!
straight out question i know has been asked before will i have a winner with the sleeve with being on all my meds?
pristeq (spelling sorry?)
epplium
avanza
no one can give me a firm answer not even the dr really cause he said well does the meds make you eat and to be honest i have no idea cause ive been on them for 4 years now i forgot what it was like before. i think ewould have to say it makes me crave and gorge????
will i loose the "crave" feelings?
thanks for any ideas!
