| Thanks all, I think this was the most significant and worthwhile choice I have ever made. If the worse of it is now, these couple of weeks afterwards, then I think it's going to be ever so successful!
Can't wait to use my teeth again for chewing purposes though... hooley dooley!! | |

| Great to finally find a spot where I can share with like minded individuals about Gastric Sleeves!
My name is Nicky, I'm from the South East side of Melbourne. After endless years of battle, I decided to get the Gastric Sleeve done. I had been seeing a full medical team, ever since I had a bilateral pulmonary embolism in June of 2010. At that time I was 214kg but I was still unable to lose weight even after something as eye opening and alarming as a PE.
I had been seeing a clinical nutritionist, psychologist and my GP before my nutritionist, Dr Sharon Marks, unequivocally stated that I was out of control 12 months after the PE (I had put on an extra 14kg since then). She sent me off to Mr Adam Skidmore and the rest speaks for itself. My weight actually ballooned out to 237kg before I started Optifast. I got it down to 220kg before the operation.
Three weeks later, I am sitting at 193kg, I am ecstatic at that loss. I am a realist too, it's coming off quickly now because I am so big. My basal metabolic rate was 3000 calories before I started, and I'm eating 500-600 calories a day so it's dripping off at the moment. My goal is 80kg but only because that's what I need to get to in order to get off Coumadin for the potential of blood clots returning. I would be thrilled if I could get to 187kg by the new year just to have lost that 50kg.
Thanks for listening, looking forward to posting more. I've also got a blog too, feel free to PM me for the address if that's allowed.
Cheers. | |
