| Hi guys, I take Nexium and haven't had any reflux since the op. It does help. I had a bit 2 days after surgery and my Dr ( Dr D'onofrio) put me back on Nexium and all good. I do still get the 'something stuck in my throat' feeling but I think that's because I've drank too fast! | |

| Just wondering if anyone can give me some ideas. I have never suffered with reflux so I don't really know what the symptoms are. I am 13 weeks post op tomorrow and haven't had a problem until the last couple of weeks. It started off with a weird feeling in my throat and oesophegus when drinking hot/warm things like coffee. Almost sort of like a gurgling but definitely a feeling of air or something coming upwards. It didn't make me feel sick or anything. Then on Friday night I could only have about 3 mouthfuls of tea (an omelette) and the pain was terrible. I have been able to eat OK since but this feeling is gradually getting worse. I'm seeing my GP on Friday and back to my surgeon tomorrow week for my 3 month check up so obviously I will be talking to them about it. Just wanted to get some thoughts in the meantime. What symptoms have people had with reflux? | |

| Maybe try switching to a different brand of reflux meds?
I take Pariet every day, and don't have any problems at all. If I forget to take it though, I can definately notice the difference.

| I had reflux pre op and a little bit post-op but it seems to be settling down. I found that if I don't eat or drink at least two hours before bed I am okay. On the night where it is bad I take a bit of gaviscon before I go to bed that helps as it soothes the throat.
I also sleep on a very large European pillow so my head is way elevated (sometimes to the point of being semi-sitting!).
These things helped me in the short term, in the longer term when it was bad I was taking Somac morning and night for a few days to help it settle. I find that I have reflux for a few days now, it stops and then a couple of weeks later I get it again. My surgeon said everyone has a bit of reflux and it settles eventually.
Definitely ring your doctor and tell him, it is the worst feeling and not nice to be dealing with it every night!

| OMG.
I am suffering from reflux every night.2-3hours after going to bed the cough starts then the "something stuck in the throat" feeling and if I cough too much wow up it comes.Clear frothy phlegmy yuk!TMI.I have the faithful wee bowl and tissue box beside the bed every night.Goes on for 3 hrs or so.Has only started since I have advanced to more solid foods.saw my surgeon last week and he said its "mechanical"not medical and suggested I raise the head of our bed so not lying flat and as the weight comes off it will stop.Okay done that ,worked first night but not since.I am taking Losec but dosnt help much.Having guests to stay next week and will be very embarrassing hearing me hack and barf all night.
HELP????????? | |
