| Tip for those on reflux fast tab meds...
Take them first thing in the morning and do not eat anything for 30 minutes. They'll work better.

| Hi again guys
I am two weeks post op this Tuesday coming and feel much better. Losec has controlled the heartburn and reflux, the pains are gone now when I eat. Just learning to read my mind and stomach and know when Im full it means stop. If I dont I get a horrendous attack of hiccups.
I am on a puree diet at the moment, but doctor has said as long as each meal has protein hes ok if I start to eat finely pureed meat with gravy, crackers etc.
Starting to feel a bit more normal again!

| Hi everyone. Thanks so much for all of your feedback, very much appreciated!
I am on Losec to control the stomach acids etc. The heartburn is dreadful though, even when I try eating tiny amounts or drinking water with small sips I get a terrible sense of heartburn (sometimes feels like Im having a heart attack!!!)
However, the surgeon tells me that it is perfectly normal. I find yoghurts helps, and chewing on a bit of cheese.
Thanks again for all of your help, Its great to know Im not alone!
Good luck to everyone and the journeys we are all undertaking,

| Welcome Jeremy :) I'm Pia and I'm in Brisbane, and was sleeved on 3 Oct. I have had some pains as well - heartburn maybe? Seems worse today, it's like I'm sore if I don't eat, but sore if I do - can't win!!. My tummy is very noisy too. I am trying to get through this first 2 weeks, then the next 2, etc til I can eat something normal again! I am on reflux medication so definitely look into that. All the best :)

| Hi Jeremy and welcome Congrats on being sleeved. Sounds like you need some reflux meds. I have been on them since the day I was sleeved, and think I will be for the rest of my life. I was sleeved nearly 2 years ago. Some of us are unlucky and have reflux after the sleeve op. Small price to pay really. Mine is well comtrolled on the meds. Good luck with your journey. The first month is hard, but hang in there, follow your surgeons and dieticians guidelines and you will be just fine. | |

| Hi Jeremy,
I had my sleeve done on the 26th September, 2011, and burping after eating is normal as you swallow air as you eat. Apparently, excessive acid in the stomach is normal and my doctor prescribed Zoton Fast Tab that dissolve on your tongue which I take every night.
I found that to try and reduce excessive burping was to use a teaspoon to eat and eat very slowly. Only problem anything hot is cold by the time I get through it.
It does get easier hang in there.

| hi Jeremy, i'm 27 and just waiting to make my frist appointment to see the surgoen.
my Husband was Sleeved in 2009. his starting weight was 157kg he had got down to 97 which makes it a 60kg weightloss though he put a little bit of weight back on due to reinjuring his back and not being able to do any exercise.
just a few notes to remember..... the hardest part of the diet is the first couple of weeks but once you get passed it and everything heals properly you will find that you can eat ALMOST anything. when you get to full solid stage, be careful with breads and meat. make sure you chew everything really really well and take small bites. also when you get used to the new full feeling and you are feeling full. STOP! otherwise that extra tiny teaspoon of food will make you feel like hell. you will learn a few things on the way as well.
with the heart burn, it is normal. ask your doc for anti-reflux/heartburn tablets or mylanta to help ease it. i know how much heart burn hurts and i haven't had the surgery yet!
i look forward to hearing about your journey!

| Maybe try milk and custards?? And ice blocks are good too. Take it easy, soon enough you'll be on 'real' food again. Congrats on the weight loss so far! That's awesome! | |

| Hi Jeremy Welcome to the other side! I was taking reflux meds from day 1 and still do 6 months out. I hope your dr has you on them, if not get a script right away. I always used to do little burps after everything, it gets better. Sounds like you've got reflux which is pretty common. Im sure if you get that sorted you'll feel better. Good luck and welcome to the site. Rebecca | |

| Hi again
A bit more about myself. I am 25 years old, and like many others have struggled with weight issues for a large part of my life. Years of that struggle culminated in me approaching a specialist in Hastings, NZ, and in under a month I received the Gastric Sleeve Op on Tuesday 4 Oct. My weight at first consultation was 164, my weiight this morning (5 days post) is 151.9kg. Seems like a huge loss in a short time. There again I am struggling to consume anything due to severe heartburn/burps and the occasional hiccup which is agony.
Congratulations to everyone else who has had the op, and also those who designed this page. It is great to read others success stories, also their stories of post op pain.
Thanks again | |

| Hi everyone
My name is Jeremy MacLeod, I live in Hastings, New Zealand. I was sleeved on Tuesday 4 October. This is a great support group. I am suffering alot with heartburn/stomach pains. I seem to get them after drinking/eating anything. I am on liquids (optifast)/soups/and pureed low starch veges. Also waking up at ungodly hours with bad heartburn. Seem to burp after eating/drinking anything, and buildup of stomach acids.
Realise it is only early days. Someone please tell me this is normal?
