| Hi Mez,
Although i cant answer any of questions as Im not as yet sleeved and the costs are different in each state - a big welcome to the site !
There are some wonderful and colourful characters in here who will have you laughing at the computer screen in the weirdest of places and times (I've laughed at 3 am in the morning when I cant sleep and want to do some more research) and who will hold your hand and lift your spirits when needed, and talk about the inane and ridiculous as well as the serious and "real" stuff.
Perhaps check out the "sticky" on questions for your surgeon in the pre-op section...........its where i found some great questions to ask that i hadnt thought of....so now my list for my surgeon in Feb is growing. Ask all the questions here you want, as there are many on here who will pass on valuable information pertaining to their own experiences.
Cheers :) Bella | |

| Hi Mez, welcome to the forum. You will receive lots of valuable info here, answers to all your questions. I am from Melbourne, recently sleeved and didn't have to pay any surgeons fees as once you have a band with my surgeon you are a patient for life and he waves any further related surgery costs . Good luck with your journey. | |

| Hi Mez,
I answered a lot of your questions on another thread but will try to answer a few others here.
Firstly I also had Dr France who is absolutely lovely. My out of pocket expenses were $350 to anaethetist, $250 excess to the hospital and $1300 gap to Dr France. So all up $1900.
He operates only at Ashford now.

| Hi Mez, I am from Adelaide and was sleeved 11 weeks ago by Dr. France who sees his patients at Ashford Specialist centre and operates from Ashford Hosp. Lovely man and all who have seen him are very happy with his bed side manner. One sleeve supporter flew from Brisbane. I was 84kgs and am now down to 70kgs. Have had a wonderful recovery with no probs. Did everything I was told with diet and exercise and now passing on my " larger " size clothes to friends. The water is the only problem I have. I used to drink over 2 litres a day, now can cope with 400mls or less. I need to make more of an effort with the water. I have now tried all the foods, both good and bad and the full feeling is great. I am with Health Partners and have gold extras. I was out of pocket by $2200. By the time I paid for aenethatist $350,Hospital $250 and Dr. France fee $1600. Can claim some of that back at tax time. Cheap $ when I compare food costs and eating out. Any other questions, just ask or PM me Cheers, Ang | |

| Hi Mez,
Welcome!
I'm not from SA so i can't really give you any info regarding the doctors over there, and i'm not getting done till Fab so i really can't tell you about my experience, as i haven't had it yet, lol!
Have a hunt around through the threads, maybe the pre-op section, you might find some info on doctors. And the diary secton, you'll find the good the bad and the hillarious in there.
Good luck with it all

I just wanted to hear from some of you who have been sleeved in Adelaide and how was your experience, who was your doctor, gaps and fees, pain level, which hospital etc etc (Sorry the list could go on and on).
