| I hate to say it, but I know you're right! I'm trying to hurry up the process by booking band out as soon as possible.
Thanks for your input. I appreciate it. I was feeling frustrated and dreading the extra surgeries, but you made a valid point. Dr Caska reckons that's why my second band didn't work. I got my second band in straight after i got the old one out. Didn't give everything a chance to heal.
Thanks, Theresa | |

| Hi All
Firstly, good luck with your op, Mousey. Hope it all goes well for you, and you have a quick and easy recovery.
Theresa, I know it's a pain, but you have to do the band removal and healing thing properly, otherwise there can be huge complications. It must be very frustrating for you to be putting on weight again, and know that you have to wait that length of time, though. Maybe you could do part time TF until it's time to do the pre-op thing? Might help? Good luck, anyway - we all know those fears are so real.

| I'm a long way off a sleeve unfortunately. I only found out last Monday that my bands got to come out for sure. Then I have to see Dr Caska again to book in getting this band out. Then he'll make me wait six months before I can get the sleeve, so everythings healed. I'm scared I'm gonna get huge again. (Or should I say even fatter ...;) I've got no fill and I can eat everything. The band must have been doing something coz I get gnawing hunger pains. I'm almost tempted to get a fill in again and get it out a month before my op. I've already put on 2 kgs. But I'm loving eating fruit, veg and meat again. I'm hitting the gym hard to make up for it, I'm hoping I can get some off before the op as he says I have a fatty liver. I can't bring myself to do the opti yet- it's feral isnt it? Can we do Tony ferguson's before and after the sleeve? I reckon they taste nicer- but I guess it's a personal thing. Good luck with your op.. so jealous! Theresa | |

| Hello there!
Wow, lots of Coasties around now!
Theresa, there are a number of posts about what people can have - why not start looking under the post-op threads? There are lots of places that have what people are eating, though. Oh, Spoggy posts daily what she's eating, so that might be a good spot, too.
No, I didn't see that post - and not sure where to look for it, either.

| Hi all,
I am on the coast also and I had my sleeve done by Dr Paul Caska, he is lovely and I actually went with him as he did my mum's twisted bowel. He is well informed with what he does, and he just took out my Gall Bladder. I am answer to your question about failing. I think some find the last bit a bit harder but with some diets changes and exercise they overcome it. I was a lucky one and things have gone well since the start for me, I have to also admit my diet at times is awful but if they scales go up I know a couple of changes and they are back again.
Maybe we should have a coast meet up smewhere central to everyone?

| Hey, How are you? You've done really well with the sleeve- hope I do as well. First time I messaged on the forum I did it in the wrong place, so I don't know if you saw it (In Diary LOL I don't really understand this site yet)
Is there a place you can go to to find out what other people can eat and how much? I trolled thru the site, but can't find anything yet. Does anyone fail like the band. Coz if's it's possible that'll be me!
Best Regards, Theresa | |

| Nice to see some Coasties on here again. We moved from the Central Coast to Melbourne just over 2 years ago.
Theresag - hi! So you're going ahead with the sleeve then - great news. I'm so glad you've found someone who can help you. I'll look forward to seeing how you go. When's your op? Wishing you lots of luck.
Amanda - when I was looking into it, I went to one of Dr Munro's band seminars. He didn't do the sleeve then, and there was no-one else on the coast who did them either, so I went to Dr Talbot at St George, in Sydney.
Good luck with your appointment on Wednesday.

| Hi Mousy, I'm going with Dr Paul Caska. His surgery is at Woy Woy. He operates at North Gosford and Brisbane Waters Private. I just saw him and I was impressed. I have a tricky op for him as I've had two bands. He thinks he can do it. Two other doctors have turned me down saying they couldnt do it. He's really nice too and his patients love him. PS I live on the Central Coast too.

| Hi Amanda
Congrats on your decision to go ahead with the sleeve. I can't help you with doctors as I'm in WA but wnated otr welcome you to the site.
I only went to one surgeon, he was recommended by my GP and when I saw him for the first time I instantly liked him. I agree with coast girl that recommedations are great as a strating point by ultimately it comes down to your own preference. I think you need to like your surgeon, be able to talk freely and open with him about anything, feel comfortable with him and just most importantly trust him 100%, all of which my dr is. You will know if the surgeon you see is all that after the first visit and also follow your gut, that will tell you if they are the right one. If something doesnt feel right, maybe see another.
Its a big step and big surgery so you need to trust him not only that he can do your surgery and take every precaution to make sure you come through OK, but you need to trust that you have been told everything you need to know and thats also where you also need to feel comfortable enough with him that you can ask anything you want or need to without that being any hassel. Some Dr's dont have a good bedside manner and some have said they dont find that important bit for me it was, it made me be able to talk to my dr more freely. You'll know the right one when you see them.
Good luck and keep us posted.

| Hi Mousey,
I too wasnt sure which doctor to have do my surgery. I actually went and visited two different doctors before making a decision on which one to go with both of which came highly recommended. Essentially even with the prior info I had received from others it came down to my personal preference and who I found I was more comfortable with, and the answers that the respective doctors each gave me and what kinds of support came with each doctor, ie dietician, phsycologist etc. Don't hesitate to get a second opinion is my advice.
