| Hi Judefat, Just wanted to let you know my experience with Dr Bowden was different to muffincat, yes Dr Bowden & Jennifer Duncombe's rooms specialise in lap band, but you will find all barriatric surgeons do and prefer this as a first option, but I went into my appointment and said I wanted a sleeve for personal reason and ease of maintenance as my work takes me away so doesn't allow me regular band top ups, and Blair had no problem with this. Blair has performed around 120 sleeves in Aus and did a 12month residency in the USA learning the procedure. Do your research on every Dr thoroughly, there is a popular one in Brisbane that I felt really uncomfortable with based on his wifes/nurse attitude over the phone and it gave me a bad feeling in my gut (pardon the pun) and I felt pressured to make an appointment, plus she was putting other clinics down. You will know when you get the right feeling. Just ask questions. | |

| Hi
Try Doctor Ian Martin he is also at the Wesly, I was originally booked in with Blair Bowden for a lap band, then changed my mind and went for the sleeve.. When I rang his office about the sleeve they said they would not do it, they like to do the bands first and then if they dont work then he would do the sleeve. Well Idid not want the lap band so I sort out another doctor which was Dr Ian Martin, his brother who I think is David Martin is big on the sleeves in Syndey and from what I hear is also very highly regarded.
I can only praise him for his job, I have had a dream run, no problems what so ever I was even aloud to go home a day early and total costs all up with him and hospital and I did not have private health cover was around $8,900 including the gas man.
If you want his details let me know. I sure you will find the right doctor for you.
Regards

| Hi Judefat, I'm also on the north side of Brisbane and am now 5 days post op. I searched every Dr I could and ended up with Dr Bowden from the Wesley Hospital. He has my full praise and the most caring, non-judgemental bedside manner I have seen (plus easy on the eye..ha,ha,all the nurses gush over him). No question is to weird for him. Lara, his administrator goes out of her way to help you if you need to obtain super. He has 2 dietitians & 2 psychologists that you see separate, but you don't have to use them as long as you find someone pre op who knows what you are doing and can provide a letter of support. I have no problems recommending Blair. PM me if you want to chat. Where on the north are you? Good luck in your search, you will know when you have found the right Dr. | |

| I went to dr Justin greens lade who is at greenslopes private hospital. He was absolutely awesome. if you are wanting someone on the north side I know of a few people that have been sleeved by dr George Hopkins at chermside. Do a search on here under surgeons to read about both surgeons.
Good luck with your decision and your future surgery.
