| I found cooking for my tribe no drama at all...i would prepare my lovely vegetable soup at the same time as i was doing there, nibbling on carrots and celery sticks. I think the most part is psychological....Once you are in the right frame of mind, there is no stopping you....we entertained heaps in the week before my surgery and i didnt have any problems, cause really i knew what was coming for me.......You'll be right ShortChick... Oh and man i wish i had visited the Hogs Breath for one last meal before i had my sleeve... | |

KInd regards,
Short Chick' I have a fiance and 3yo little boy and i cooked for them the first night i started opti and it was hard.. from then on my man mostly did the cooking but i helped a little and sat in the kitchen talking to him while he did... once ketosis kicks in on the 3rd of 4th day its alot easier... grab a carrot and munch on that if you really struggle.. once that initial few days are past it is a little easier.. always keep your mind on the end result and nothing or no one will stop you!!!

| Bring a small cushion or pillow for the way back home in the car ...... it really helps ......... and remember to stay on your optifast meal and veggies the day before surgery ........... I out of all days decided to have garlic chinese veggies the nite before ..... i tell you i vomitted the whole nite and felt so sick the day of surgery with garlic coming up my throat every second and was almost not going ahead with my surgery that i had waited 52weeks for ............ So please stay with your opti diet the nite before surgery it is so important and remember later on you will be able to enjoy chinese food again ....... and all foods ........
Just an advice ....... | |

| I read in the forum about bringing a small cushion to support your tum area in case you have to cough or sneeze. That's one of the things I'll be packing.

| I am not sure if anything helps with the hairloss. There have been people on here who take supplements etc and still lose hair, and there are people who take nothing and lose no hair.
I didn't lose any hair until about 30kg weightloss, now at nearly 45kgs lost, I have lost loads of hair. It is noticeable, but I am assured it will all return in time, so no use getting stressed over it.
Good luck with your opti stage, it is worthwhile.... although I did find it hard.

Hopefully we will meet very soon again! All the best for everything!

| Victoria, I think it depends on the individual. I was done by Dr Taylor who uses a 32 and nothing ever gets stuck and I can eat anything. I personally would not want anything bigger or I would not lose any weight at all. I already have to be really careful to not overeat. Tash xx | |

| Mine will be 36. My surgeon said *he* found anything smaller than this was just too small and things got stuck too often. I really think the size depends on the surgeon and his preferences/experiences/techniques. I'm glad I am fully informed but it's not something I am too concerned about | |

| Dr Taylor uses a 32, but I've heard that the final size also depends on how tight the surgeon pulls the stomach around the bougie | |
