Hi there - I am a new patient of Dr Roy B. I am also classified as Obese with a BMI of 32 - BUT for my short height of 157 and weight of 81kgs I am struggling with my weight and my on going back issues due to weight. Dr Roy said that the Health funds are cracking down and only approving ops for people with a BMI of 35 plus. Needless to sy this excluded me - I was gutted and actually burst into tears after leaving Dr Roy's Office. He did say the due to my back issues he would operate BUT if he was to be audited the healthfund would make me back pay $20,000 for the op. Needless to say I can't afford that. MY SAVING GRACE WAS we have hectic heart problems in our family - Grandfather died of HA, Grandmother had double bypass, Father had HA and Triple Bypass and aunt is an angina sufferer - and that is jut my dad's side. Mom's side - Grandfarther had HA at 55 and died of HA at 56 and aunt died at 52 from HA. Given this Dr Roy suggested I see a heart specialist and get a letter confirming 1. Our Family History, 2. I am overweight, 3. My Cholestrol is out of control - 6.2 (Out of control by my stardards) 4. I am high risk. So $900 for a specialist appointment later I got my letter. I am so excited to say that Dr Roy has agreed to do my op and I am booked in for the 15th April - I am so excited I can literally vomit! But very long story to answer your question - if you are under a BMI of 35 you will be faced with having to back pay the health fund IF the surgeon is audited.

I had Dr Roy & he was fantastic - very thorough in his care - e.g. I had to do a pico prep prior to surgery - to help with constipation afterwards.

When I went to my Preop appt we went through everything & as he knows I work in health he told me his stats (not in a boastful way)  He has done over 900 sleeves and had no leaks.  So I felt pretty safe with him.

My care at Norwest was fantastic as well - excellent.

Dr Roy completed my surgery two weeks ago, he was fantastic, the surgery went well, the team at nor west highly reposted him and looked after me very well.
i have healed well and lost about 7kg since surgery.
Dr Roy had a friendly if brief bedside manner and was exactly like he was at pre surgery appointments straight upfront and to the point.
I would highly recommend him.

Dr Roy is my dr. I think he is amazing!! Great surgeon, always takes the time to answer my questions and I think he could do the surgery with his eyes closed.

Hi Louise,

I had an appointment with Dr Roy last week.

I didnt find him to be overly happy, bubbly ,friendly kind of guy...is it just me not liking his realistic bedside manner?? I read other posts that he is good at what he does though?

cheers

Hi, yes I used Roy Brancatisano and I was extremely pleased with all his care. He took out my gall bladder and then applied gastric banding. This was many years ago and the surgery has been upgraded since then. I have not had the saline put into the port for about four years and I have gained weight. I am going back this week on Thursday to have it adjusted. I hope there are good results. As with everything we must look after and nurture our gastric banding.
So good luck with your journey.
Louise

Well, now that I am on the other side of my surgery, I can fully recommend Dr Roy Brancatisano and the Circle of Care team at Baulkham Hills to anyone.

He is a fantastic surgeon, really cares for his patients, and demands the best from the hospital staff at Norwest Private. Some of the nursing staff said that he can be very particular when it comes to his requests, but he does everything for the full recovery of the patient and makes sure you get the best care possible.

Two thumbs up for Dr B!

Just looking at opinions from anyone who may have used Dr Roy Brancatisano for their sleeve surgery.

I've had one initial appointment with him already, and he seems very personable and knowledgable. He's given me a lot of confidence in his abilities, but it woiuld be nice to hear from others who have been through the whole process already.

PMs welcome.
