| Hi armywife from another armywife :-) I saw Dr Craig Taylor and was really impressed with him if that's any help to you. I'm booked in for surgery on July 18. He could've done it in June but I had to say no because my husband will be away running a course xx | |

my god! you look amazing by the way! I am going to go and have a look at your diary very soon! a little update, went to see new gp this morn, am up to 95 kg with bmi 33.5, she put me on cholesterol meds and a few others and most importantly gave me a referral to surgeon....am so so happy...i am seeing him this fri (dr kuzinkovas in sydney) and am really pleased that gp took my concerns seriously... i too am hoping for the sleeve to be the tool to help me get to a healthy weight for the rest of my life! did i mention how great you look? thanks for the chat, will pm you later this week...
Thanks! My surgeon said that ppl with smaller BMIs tend to have very good results very quickly, so having it done at our size is a bonus, in his book. I hope it all works out well for you. I still have about 8KGs to go, my surgeon readjusted my goal to 65KG from 60KG, but I hope to maybe get to about 63KG if I can.

| Armywife...I was 93.8KG 8 weeks ago, and thanks to the sleeve, I am now 73KG, and STILL losing. Ignore what others think or say, and do what you feel is right. PM me if you want to chat, or read my diary. Being on the 'smaller side' of morbidly obese, is not all that fantastic. I know. I was there, and the health problems are EXACTLY the same. | |

| thanks for the encouragement Tash! Yep, i def know what you mean re; people questioning you but i guess in the end we are doing if for ourselves so they can think what they like, its just unfortunate that instead of being supportive of someone taking the initiative to better their own health that they are silly...oh well! will keep you posted re: my appt next week....am soooo excited for you! june is so close now!
ps registrars can be so rude...theyve made it through med school and they think they are all that! i have had several run-ins with different ones for rude behaviour towards nurses...theyre not consultants yet but think they can act the part...better to be on the operating table now than in a few years time for a heart attack i say!

| Oh Hi Armywife That is good news that you have found a different Dr that works for you. So as a theatre nurse you would know all the best questions to ask. Anyway I know that there have been a fair few people who are having the surgery in and around 100 kilos. Myself included being just over 100. I was at my pre admission at Concord Hospital today and even there I felt a little bit like they were questioning my need for the surgery. Particularly the Team Dr who was a registrar. He kept questioning me over whether I had seen the surgeon and for what reason I was having the surgery. I don't really feel it was his place to question me about this as I have already discussed this with the surgeon, he is happy to go ahead and I have paid in full. So even if you go with the other surgeon you may still get some remarks but just go for what you want. You know yourself how you are and what your needs are re: weightloss. But he did say that the 3 doctors who do Bariatric Surgery at Concord are amoung the best and are world renowned as Bariatric Surgeons. Good to know.\ Anyway I wish the best of Luck. Tash xx | |

| hey everyone!!
I hope you are all having a good friday! I just though i would update on the meeting last night at bowral bariatric centre...firstly, i attended the meeting (which was no mean feat with kids aged 3, 2, and 7 months) but anyways, didnt learn much new stuff but was important as it made me realise these are NOT the surgeons i would like to do my surgery. both surgeons seemed not confident in performing the sleeve and were very quick to talk about people ending up in ICU for 6 months and really pushed the band...i appreciate their opinion but surely that is an extreme minority....secondly, whilst i am on the smaller size of large (93kg, BMI 33) both the surgeons and others attending the meeting were looking at me like i didnt deserve to be there...the receptionist asked me who i was hear to support...it upsets me alot actually, I have become an expert at hiding my weight and camouflaging my true size but nothing can cover up my high-cholesterol, family histories of breast cancer, obesity, heart disease and diabetes...anyway...the good news is that I have secured an appt with dr kuzinokovas next week and i am sooo excited! being a theatre nurse myself i have a good feeling that he is my guy...not only are his credentials excellent but from others posts he seems like a nice guy...will def keep you all updated when i meet him next week...thanks for listenening, would love to hear from anyone out there
