| Hi,
At the gym I tend to use the treadmill more....I hate the cross trainer..it makes me work too hard, and I end up stopping.
With the treadmill I tend to do intervals that includes changes of incline that simulate hills...I also enjoy changing pace and following the Couch to 5K regime too (theres a thread for this in the exercise forum).
I'd suggest popping into the local gym and trying both out...and seeing what you prefer...most gyms are happy to let you have a free tryout session.
Choose the most enjoyable and you are less likely to let it turn into an expensive towel rack.

| I like the xtrainer because of a few reasons: - after a while I can't burn enough calories walking on treadmill and have to run.. and I don't love running - lower impact on xtrainer - can get one with the moving arms to get a more cardio workout as well as change resistance to give legs a good workout - makes me sweat like a mofo, so I figure it's good for my heart making it work that hard! | |

| Just careful with an x-trainer, I used one about 5 yrs ago for a few mths and ended up with crippling tailbone pain that I needed physio several times a week for and couldn't sit at all.
I found out afterward that using a cross trainer can strain the muscle group around the tailbone and it can be linked so if u started noticing pain after a while, stop! Know plenty of people who love them though. | |
