| Hi Cath I know exactly what you mean I have had my band for about 18 mths and I am just begining my journey to get rid of it. I dont regret it as I have lost 35kg but I am having more trouble than I expected to. I know people that have had 9mls in a 11ml band and have not had any of the vomiting, reflux issues that I have had, there have been times when I could not even keep down water because the pain in my chest was so bad. Good luck and keep us posted | |

| Big Softie..You did not fail with your band, your band failed YOU.
I am nearly six weeks out, and I find that I can eat MOST things slowly, but I think I need to eat more regularly, by the clock, so that I don't forget to eat! If I don't eat as much during the day, I am finding that I vomit when I finally eat. I don't seem to have a 'hunger' signal anymore!
For me, it is a case of fine tuning, and ensuring that I carry snacks with me throughout the day to maintain a constant adequate intake.
It is a learning curve for sure! | |

| The very first swallow I took after the band came out & the sleeve done, I was waiting for that stuck feeling and it wasn't there. It is so good to be able to get up in the morning & have a drink - something I could not do with the band. I had to wait an hr or so till it relaxed. I think bandits know what I mean. I think we have an advantage when the sleeve is done - ex bandits know the importance of slower eating and small sips which is a bonus & not something needed to be concentrated on as much - well that's my experience and I'm only 6 days sleeved. The biggest thing I still need to overcome is the feeling of failure. I failed with the band and I could fail with this. From everything people have said I think it will be a blessing. Will let you know in 6 months! | |

| hi Cath80 I'm with HB - sooo much better!!!!! I had my band for almost 3 years and in the end I could only eat chips and coke!!! everything else got stuck or refluxed - it was awful. I have my meals at home served in a chinese rice bowl - some times I'm full at the half way mark. I know I'm full and stop eating - I just can't eat any more at that point. Then I feel full for a while and very satisfied for a long time. With the band I could drink and was food down - unless it was the stuff that got stuck! There is no stuck feeling with the sleeve - just a very full feeling! You'll know if you have too much - not pleasant! When you're sleeved you very gradually start eating real food - very gradually and I think this helps you to take it easy. Good luck on the journey - beware overdoing it when the band is out... oh the temptation to eat everything in sight as a last hurrah! ok... I gave in and loved every minute of it! Pippa | |

| Hi Cath80, I've had the band (total of 6 months before I begged to have it gone!) and I know that awful squashed chest feeling that I got from the band. It didn't just come from 'overeating' with the band with me either, I could get it anytime with absolutely anything getting stuck. Man, I hated that band. I think I cried more in the six months I had the lapband that what is humanly possible. I became a huge, big, sooky cry-baby. I don't know how my husband could stand it. The sleeve compared to the lapband life (for me) is just heaven! My full signal comes on quite fast (especially if I eat a bit too quickly) but it is not painful, as such. It is more like I have put in a few hard hours at the buffet and am now feeling overly full and tired. It just isn't the same as with the band at all. I wish you all the luck with having the band out and sleeve in! It has been the best decision I have ever made and I so wish I had have done the sleeve in the first place! I'm sure you'll love your sleeved life! xxxHuggyBear | |

| Hello ex-bandits & potential ex-bandits, Im booked in to have my lap-band removed on May 14th with Dr Thomas here in Perth. And to be sleeved 3 months after that! Just a question.... The feeling of fullness with a lap-band as opposed to the sleeve. With the lap-band....i feel like an elephant is sitting on my chest and that it is about to cave in, when i feel "full". Not a very nice feeling at all. At times, i have even stuck my finger down my throat in order to throw up something that was giving me so much grief!! How bad is that!? Has anyone done this????????? Its pretty scary. This feeling really highlights to me how bad the lap-band is!!! :( Can anyone shed some light on the feeling of fullness with the sleeve as opposed to the band? Is it as painful??? is it more bearable than the lap-band? Any info regarding this would be appreciated!!!! Im so over this band!!! Cath xo | |
