I have found some delicious protein bars by SUN health (in the health food section at Woolies) They are cheap too! Currently on special for 99 cents. SUN 'Prota Plus' apricot and almond protein bars 40g: Energy: 498KJ Protein: 10g FAT: 3.4g Carb: 17.6g The bars are low GI, and VERY filling. I find I can eat 1/2 a one at a time. The package advertises 25 percent protein, but I think you would have to eat 2 per day for that!

| At the moment I am really into Horley's Carb Less protein bars http://www.horleys.com/ViewProduct.aspx?id=27 I buy them by the box via the net from Vitamin King, and find them really useful, I have one in my handbag at all times. They are my standard lunch at work, and keep me full for a fair while. I like the Double Dutch Chocolate and Lemon Meringue flavours, and find that they don't have that protein supplement taste. I even eat them instead of having chocolate as a sweet substitute, and they do the trick well enough. The only thing is that they contain modified carbohydrates such as maltitol, hence the "Excess consumption may have a laxative effect" warning on the packet. I have no problem here, but maybe this could be an issue for others. Maltitol is a sugar alcohol (a polyol) or used as a sugar substitute. I understand that it is basically a sweetener made from starch from grains, and it is used to replace table sugar in food because it has fewer calories. I believe that has a somewhat lesser effect on blood glucose but can be difficult to digest. For more accurate information about Maltitol please see this link: http://www.caloriecontrol.org/sweeteners-and-lite/polyols/maltitol Horley's Carb Less Bars: Average Quantity per 55g bar:
Energy 756kj (180 cal) Protein 18.4g Fat Total 3.4g Saturated 1.6g Carbohydrate Total 4.5g Sugars 4.1g Maltitol 7.4g Glycerine 6.1g Dietary Fibre Total 6.8g Polydextrose 6.5g Sodium 113m

| Hi All, I wanted to start a thread about products I have found that I use in my diet. When I raised it in chat the other night, people thought it was a good idea. Please feel free to add your own finds!! When you do add, please include where you bought it from, how much it was, the serving size, energy, protein, carbs and fat. Not all people are going to like all of the products but please remember, this thread is for information only. I hope you find it useful. Alot of these suggestions are for times when you can't, or don't have the time to cook.
