| Hi,
I hated exercise.
But I plateaued and it became very obvious to me that my weight loss is better when I do it.
Then I discovered that I feel alot better, in every sense of the word, when I exercise.
I still hate it, but I need it. i realise this now.
And oddly I miss it when I dont exercise.
Life, and I, am better when I do it.

I couldn't agree with your more. It should be offered as an incentive to weightloss and the subsequent better health.

| Also the younger you are, the more likely your skin will 'bounce back'. Unfair but true! Also some nationalities have better skin tone than others - white Anglo Saxon skin types usually have worse stretch marks and less skin elasticity than their Mediterranean sisters. I think plastic surgery is a great option for those who can afford it. For some, the excess skin is disfiguring and I personally think it should be offered on Medicare for those people. We should petition the government! ha! | |

I wanted to lose the last 10 kilos and it wasn't happening with just eating well. So recently I have gone back to having 2 optifasts a day (Breakfast & lunch) and have been walking every 2nd night for over an hour. I have lost 5 additional kilos in just over 1 week but its been a challenge.
Also want to add, I think my saggy skin wouldn't be in issue if I'd have exercised from the start. I have NO muscle tone at all. I have only just started getting my muscle tone back. I got underweight too and as a result because there was no more fat to lose the muscle I did have disappeared. I now have a butt like a 90 year old woman. And a very very sore tailbone, which my surgeon says would right itself if I built up my bum! - aquarius wrote:

I have very little lose skin, thank god, have done NO exersice and have lost over 50kg. BTW I dont advocate the no exercise, but I can't be hypocritiacal and suggest you do it, but I am sure it will help in the long run!

| Just to be clear - exercise does not help loose skin. Skin elasticity has no relationship with muscle condition. If you'd exercised during weight loss, you'd still have loose skin. However the bigger your muscles, the less obvious loose skin is. However if you've lost huge amounts of weight (eg over 30kg) nothing you can do will help loose skin, apart from plastic surgery. So please don't be too hard on yourselves. Skin elasticity is genetic - if your parents have more toned skin, then chances are, you will too. Despite your saying you haven't exercised since losing weight - I bet you are doing more 'incidental' exercising (eg running for the bus, taking stairs rather than lift, walking around shops much more than you used to) as you are feeling lighter and more energetic. Weight loss is great for the heart, so you're doing well. | |

| Thank you all for ur feedback. I have started walking on my treadmill and am finding it hard to have the energy to get on (as the only time available i have is at night after the kids have gone to sleep). I am taking Swisse Womens multi vitamin tablets and still struggle for energy as my daily intake has reduced heaps all of a sudden. I think as time goes by my body will get used to the amount of food i am consuming and hopefully my energy levels will be much better. Until then, Im going to walk on my treadmill and push myself to do so just not everyday as I once used to in my slim days... Once again, thanks for the feedback, its appfreciated... Bec :-) | |

| I started out at 162Kg..got to 112 to 114kg swung for months and months but basically stayed at that. I did no exercise in the first period Do I regret it now? ABSOLUTELY! I wish I had exercised back when I was also more excited and motivated. I then had some regain (am over 2 years out) and at 118Kg have finally started exercising and really watching what i eat. Some days it gets me down but I know I wont reach goal if I dont. I would have loved to have been in the group that got to goal and did not exercise, but alas i was not..I think I hoped too long and should have started 8 months ago when I stopped losing..not waiting for the fairy to melt the fat away. If You can do it post op, then I strongly suggest you do. | |

| I agree with smileykylie, I managed to lose all my weight without exercising, but...the joke's on me now! I have so much loose skin on my tummy (having two babies certainly wouldn't have helped), thighs and arms. At only 27 I am seriously looking into surgery in the next couple of years to remove all the excess skin. | |

| Hi Cantwait,
it may be because he is a man. I am 45, my hubby is 52, he can eat I'd say 70% MORE than me and maintain his weight at 82 kgs. (He has not been sleeved) Men have much much faster metabolisms than us. I stopped losing weight at about 92kgs (5'6' and started at 109Kgs) It took 4 visits a week to the gym to kick start my weight loss of 1 kg a week.
Even last week, I didn't go to the gym and dropped only 0.5kg.
I think you will be in the very very small minority if you do not have to exercise to lose weight.
You will find as time goes on you can eat more, and certainly if you don't eat protein first, you can easily fill up on chocolate etc, it doesn't take much to eat 1500 cals!
You are still only 10 weeks out, at about 4 or 5 months suddenly you can eat more, and things settle down and you start drinking alcohol again and going out and life returns to normal and you begin to see how you could put on weight with the sleeve. It is hard at first to see how you will ever be able to maintain your weight, but it does change.
Good luck! | |

| Hi All, Im interested in knowing who got to their goal weight or close to it without having to exercise? The reason I ask this is because my brother had his sleeve done in September 2010 and has gone from 111kgs (highest weight), 106kgs (pre-op), down to 71kgs now without doing a single bit of exercise and is currently under weight & is trying verrryyyy hard to put weight on. So Im worried that I'll follow in his footsteps as I do not want to be under weight and am afraid that if i start excersing now I will lose too much weight too quick and will struggle to put the weight on just in case i end up like him? Any feedback will help in this situation... Bec :-) | |
