| Thanks girls... when I re-read my post, I wondered if I was over reacting... being hormonal and all that...lol!!! Glad you thought along the same line as me... funny how one little off the cuff comment can really change my mood and outlook on myself. I suppose there is a lesson here... that I shouldn't listen to others, on those who I trust! Emily... I notice your ticker says weight loss challenge for July2010... I was sleeved beg of July... where is the post, 'cos I might join you =] | |

| Hi Mamacoops I'm sorry that woman was such a bitch to you. Ignore her - she's probably just looking to bolster her own self esteem at your expense (which doesn't excuse her behaviour). Interesting about the HRT and migraines - I'm having the same problem, so will ask my doc about it when I see her in a couple of days and see if I should stop HRT too. Good luck - I hope the symptoms don't re-appear with a vengeance... | |

| Ok... so a quick update on the hormone thing... went to the menopause clinic today, and earlier than scheduled apptment cos I had a banging migraine on the weekend... anyway, long story short, it would appear that my migraines are hormone related, so I was advised to come off the HRT patches... not sure how I feel about this... I guess I will just monitor to see what happens over the next coming mths or so... I still think that these hormone thing is stopping my weight loss? On a side note; the nurse weighed me and over the last 5 weeks I have lost a kilo ...she looked at my notes and said: 'OH dear, you've only lost a kilo... and with that surgery ... how very disappointing *insert grin' I feebly replied: 'yea, it has been really slow since the beg of the year, only 11lb.' To which the grin widened and she repeated 'Oh how very disappointing' COW... I wasn't there for a weight loss chat.... I was there cos of the bloody early menopause... When I replayed the conversation in my head, I was really cross at her smuggness and went into failure mode. God, why can't my body just get a grip, stop messing me about and shed some more fat!!! Sorry... update to rant in seconds...lol x | |

| I'm on HRT pills and still get periods. Asked my doc about it, and she said that everything would just be worse than it is now if I wasn't doing the HRT, and all it does is lessen the severity, so to hang in with it and use it for at least 6 months before re-assessing. | |

| The reason I went off HRT was because my period returned.
I went through menopause at 38, and apart from a few hot flushes and some terrible mood swings, I am fine. I tried EVERYTHING, and then just thought, 'Do I want periods anymore?' No! So I gave up on HRT and let nature take its course. I am 49 now, and it has not affected how I look. I look 10 years younger than most of my contemporaries anyway, and always have.
Talk to your Doctor. Menopause is not a disease, You may be better off on a contraceptive pill in early menopause anyway if the symptoms bother you... | |

| Hey, just thought I would throw another question at you ladies... I've been putting my hrt patch on for about 3 weeks... it has sorted out the hot flashes, only had the one...phew... but I started 'spotting' about a week ago and this has turned into a full blown 'flood'... sorry to be so graphic. I was under the impression that this wouldn't happen with the constant patch? has this happened to anyone else or should I be making a phone call to my Dr? Thanks in advance! | |

| Hi Mama I totally get where you're coming from! 40's early for menopause, but not unheard of. However you might like to know something that I learned - when I was 37 or 38, I went through hot flushes, missed periods, etc and ended up at the menopause clinic. They told me that women go through a major hormonal shift in their late 30s that can mimic menopause, and that lots of doctor's don't know about. They suggested that it might last for 6-12 months, change my experiences with periods and PMS, and then go away until I hit 'real' menopause in my 50s. And they were right. Now I'm going through 'real' menopause, and am on HRT pills after trying to cope without it for quite some time. I can't say that I've noticed any differences in my weight loss due to the HRT - I certainly have put on weight recently, but my diet has been so crappy that I know it's due to that. Good luck, and don't give up on the weight loss. Don't forget that some people do stall for months at a time - have you measured as well as weighed, because sometimes it will show up as inches rather than kilos. Big hugs Chris | |

| Hello all, I've been having 'issues' ... lol ... hormone related; monthlies that are all over the place, mood swings, hot flushes, facial hair... etc. You get the picture! Anyway, I went to the doc and got my bloods done. They returned suggesting early menopause, I am nearly 40, and the doc has put me throught to see a specialist. I had my appointment with her this week and she perscribed HRT patches Evorel conti. I put my first patch on today. My main concern at this stage is weight gain. I haven't lost a pound since the end of Jan and frustated doesn't come near to it. I am following my plan and I have tried different things to shake up the weight loss, but to no avail. I really don't want this to be the end of my journey... although I am grateful for the weight loss to date and the better quality of life that I have now compared to this time last year - see I am trying to be positive!!! Has anyone else had HRT patches with the sleeve... I would appreciate any experiences positive or negative! Thanks in advance =] | |
