| Hi, I would contact the diabetic educators at community health and see what they have to say. There are quite a few banders and sleevers in Tamworth, so either them or the baratric nurse you may have seen should be able to help. :-)

| Great question, unfortunately one I'm not personally up to speed with. Not sure if it helps, but there is a link below to the other health issues section of the site. I know that there are at least one or two other Type 1 diabetics floating around, so hopefully there is some discussion in this section. http://www.gastricsleevesupport.com/f16-other-health-issues My mum is a Type 1 diabetic also (20 years), and has found a great deal of success from switching to an insulin pump (approx 5 years ago). Although never significantly overweight, she has managed to shed around 15kg since going with the pump - a combination of change of meds, excersize and eliminating gluten/wheat from her diet. She also seems much healthier in general, and has said she loves that it fits into her lifestyle so much easier than previous methods. Good luck finding the answers you need. | |

| Hmm - sorry I can't help, but I've been wondering the same thing myself as my best friend is in a very similar boat to yours.
Hopefully someone will know more... | |

| Hey all i am a type one diabetic and have been so for 31 years. As a result of long term insulin usage I am now 112kg and have hovered between 100 and 120kg sense i was 17. I am now thinking about being sleeved but just wondered if anyone else has been through this and how it affected there control. cheers. | |
