| Just to let you know "newgirl"(who started this thread) hasn't gone away, she is now called "yoodles" due to a small password related accident, :-)

| Hi Newgirl and welcome to the forum. I have to agree the sleeve is the way to go and it really is set and forget. I love my sleeve, best decision I have ever made. I now feel normal and am fit and healthy for the first time in my life. Good luck with your appointments, surgery and journey. | |

| I have been lurking on this site for well over three months, so now that I have finally made the decision to be sleeved, I thought it was only curtesy to introduce myself! Hello I am the new girl from Melbourne. I have loved reading this site and everyone's experiences, so posititive and supportive. I have been trying to decide between the band and the sleeve for ages. Initial appointment with the surgeon back in August suggested that I go with the band because the op is safer, reversible and generally it has good results - but I can't shake the "set and forget" approach to the sleeve, after all isn't the follow up the problem in the first place with trying to lose weight - I go well for a few weeks and then get sick of it. I am scared that the sleeve is major surgery and it is not reversible, and of course leaks, but it seems from everything written that the sleeve is far easier in the long run (i.e. less day to day problems) than the sleeve. And I am yet to find anyone who doesn't love it, unlike the band which seems to be one port flip and surgery after another. I am back to beg the surgeon next week for the sleeve and hopefully schedule the surgery for the first available in Jan. I am now off to the other sections! |
