| My doc is also a naturopath - when I spat the dummy (pacifier for Americans) about some trad meds she gave me some natural alternatives. Medicated honey for skin, some teas etc. Also aloe vera juice (expensive one from chemist, not cheap from Asian supermarket) for leaky gut that also helped my skin.
Perhaps see a chemist for over the counter (prob non steroid), see a naturopath, ask to see a skin specialist who may have other solutions - literally - like bath solutions and topical creams.
Also find out what increases hunger in steroid. If its reflux (hunger "pain"), up yr anti reflux meds. Remember, you can only eat til full, which is very little so if your hunger increases, make good choices and you'll be fine.
Good luck! I know how soul destroying skin complaints can be!

I have been sleeping on ice packs all in a row in bed cause my skin is so hot and itchy, tried every cream I can think off to help none have worked it is so horrible not knowing how to fix it, I am feeling so ill because of it and don't even feel like eating because I just feel sick don't know if this will work but here is a photo of how my skin looks https://i.servimg.com/u/f67/15/97/24/52/17122010.jpg

| Just a note on rashes - it's a great idea and very helpful for the diagnosis of what type it is if you keep a diary of when it happened and what you were doing/eating/taking etc. | |

| Try a new fangled thing called "email" ROFL Actually i just switched from a surgeon who never answered voicemail, messages with reception or faxes (and who didnt have email) to one who responds overnight no matter the question so you might have a response (or not). Im going to ask my surgeon about rashes - I think mineral and hormonal imbalances are more likely to affect my skin than hair as i'm predisposed. Which is why im also ramping up Blackmores skin nail hair product now, pre op. Let me know what you find out? Good luck! Ps DH finally got a rash (after 4yrs) looked at - its fungal. Doctor was surprised he'd left it so long. I wasnt! | |

| Well she might be right - i think the Opti diet causes ketoacidosis. Deliberately. But id seriously contact your surgeon before changing things too drastically. Ketosis burns off fat. This is good. | |

| If you dont have time to make an appointment with the doc, try a chemist during late night shopping? Pharmicist will either tell you its fungal (from hospital?), or eczema etc and give you over the counter stuff - or tell you to see a doc.
Im ramping up sorbolene cream pre-op - i get nasty skin from diet changes, air conditioning, lying in bed, sweating in summer, breathing, anything really. Plus sorbolene will slow up baggy skin. I hope!

| My first complication has been my skin breaking out in red dots that started out about the size of 1 cent and getting itchy and becoming to the size of 50 cent piece. I tried antihystemines as guided by doctor but didn't get much relief so I was given three days of a steriod tablet (can make hungry is side effect :( didn't want it because of that but scratchying was driving me up the wall) and finally relief. I have been told it may be an alergic reaction to a medication. I understand your pain at scratching good luck with a solution | |

| kaz i had the same thing on my arms, it woke me up each night and i'd scratch and scratch
what i had was a nice little reaction that i kept going with my scratching it started from dry skin and then snowballed from there
can you use steroids? if so, get some dermaid 1% (soft) from the chemist, put it on 3 times a day. have a not hot shower (if you can bear it) and take an antihistamine for a few days
mine healed in about 4 days thank goodness!
good luck! mel ps don't use soap either

| ok this just out there. As we gain and lose weight skin stretches and shrinks so does our skin so it makes sense that it would be itchy. Just an idea. | |

| I suffer from an 2 itches! One was my antidepressants which I have now changed... the other one I notice was really bad on my legs that I wanted to rip them off. then I noticed a pattern emerging.... it only happened when I had something really sweet like chocolate. Happened about 4 times and hasn't happened since.
Keep a note of when it happens and what you have eaten. If it does get worse definitely see your Gp.

| Hey Kaz,
I haven't heard of it in connection with a sleeve either. I think if you want to fix it you're going to need to find out what it is. Can you find a GP or medical centre closer to your work? No point in suffering needlessly.

| you could try adding a sppon of good oil such as flax seed to you diet. most people get very good after surgery and a dramatic drop in fat in your diet may be the reason
until you balance which could take weeks you can try sorbelene cream very cheap straight onto your wet skin after every shower. oe invest in something like a bottle of oil of ulay at about $15 and use that all over. I find face moisturiser like that absorbes in no greasy feeling.

| Not a heap has changed Well no thats a lie I can't eat bread, pasta or red meat (which is fine!!) oh and no dairy either! (again not so fussed) but surely none of things would cause itchyness?
seeing my GP involves taking a day off work so want to try and fix it before I resort to him...

| Hi Kaz
Might be wrong but I don't think those symptoms are related to your sleeve, it might be worth going to your gp for a chat? that is, unless you've started eating something new that you might have a sensitivity to.

| Ever since the op (almost 3 months) I have had the craziest itchy skin - it gets to the point where I want to rip my skin off and end up with huge scratches down my legs! (thats the worst place!) I've been told to have lemon water in the morning, then I was told to add nuts to my diet but nothing is working! any one else have this issue??? | |
