How long did you stay in hospital?

3 nights for me - no complications

me late tuesday home sat..

my surgeon would have sent me home friday no pain ect but he needs 1000 mil tolerated before discharge and i had only done 750 on the thursday did on the friday and sent me home sat morning

no complications either

I had my surgery late Tuesday and was home late Thursday so two nights here....

3 nights for me too and no complications.

5 nights for me, mostly because my surgeon went away for the weekend so he wanted to see me Monday morning when he got back before letting me go. I didn't mind though - single room and waited on hand and foot!

One night for me

3 days, 2 nights.

Yep same here., I was vomiting terribly for the first 2 days but today woke up feeling fine.

So he said I could go home, ... got to be happy with that, I hate hospitals.

I was in for two nights, felt very well straightaway and went back to work after two weeks - which fitted in well as I was on school holidays.

I was operated on Tuesay 26/10 and am home today, so only 2 nights, doc said surgery went extremely well and my liver was a beautiful little thing, so the opti definately did its job and by the look of things my stay was less than the usual, not sure why but I suppose all doc's are different.

surgery was 3 hours longer for me to.

five nights for me only because I had a minor complication which meant my drains had to stay in.

While I was in the nurses told me generally it is three nights.

I am also taking two weeks off work, I got the feeling that 3 nights is also pretty standard from talking to the nurses

I had my op with an OPEN incision, and was in hospital for 9 days, was only sposed to be 7, but I had a few complications.....

3 nights for me, went in Monday morning & was out on Thursday morning

My surgeon normally makes you stay 3 nights. I did have a few complications though and ended up staying 8 nights.

3 nights I think - although after my recent surgery it all seems a bit of a dim memory!

3 nights for me ....though surgeon said i could go home after 2 but my ride home had already left before he saw me...(live 2 hrs from hosp) so stayed the third night......

My surgeon is cautious....I should have been in for five but didn't cope well at the start (the PCA machine I think) so ended up being in hospital six days....

My surgeon keeps his banders in 1 night only, but 3 nights for a sleeve.

Just a bit curious... how long did you stay in hospital - I was one night post band, and one night after having it taken out.
Both occaisions I was back at work before 5 days were out. bit of a loony really!
I think this surgery appears to be more complex and may take longer recovery time but I 'm not sure.
So any replies will be gratefully received by this newbie
