| Howdy Shanna As long as this dreadful heat continues in San Diego I'll swim every day but sooner or later the cooler weather will arrive so I'm going to be on the lookout for an affordable bike. I used to own one but sold it when it became nothing more then something to lay clothes on. This time hopefully I'll stick with it. : | |

| Sandy I know it is expensive and a pain in the neck to find an exercise bike, but if you can beg, borrow or steal a recumbent bike I would. The more you weight the easier the bike is than any other form of exercise. I am with the Bad Apple all the way. | |

| Hi bad apple(sauce), Thanks for the suggestion! I'm very mobile and have no restrictions, apart from my excessive weight which keeps me from walking long distances. I don't have an exercise bike or a gym membership so I guess I'll keep on doing what I'm doing, which is walking as much as I can and using stairs whenever possible. Thanks again for the reply. | |

| Hi sandy, How mobile are you? Do you have any movement restrictions? (ie able to walk, bend ,jog ect ) If your not very mobile or have movement restrictions due to bad back or joints you might try an Recumbent exercise bike. As you sit down in a normal "chair" type seat & you aren't "perched" on top of a normal bike frame it takes all pressure off of these problem areas an allows you to exercise freely. I had back pain due to a slipped disk but I was able to ride 40km (approx 30miles) a day using one & it helped my pre op fitness no end! | |

| I'm looking for information about good exercises to do pre-op to reduce the risk of blood clots forming in the legs. Does anyone have any ideas? | |
