under anaesthetic for how long?

Nearly 3 hours for me!

When I got the Anesthetic Bill, It had on there time of Start and Finish

2.00pm Start - 4.30pm finish

So I guess 2.5 hours all up

I was out for 2.5 hours as well :)

As with any op, every person is different and every surgery no matter how big or small is different. My daugther underwent major surgery a couple of years ago and her surgeon said she would be under for about 4hours. After 6hrs I was climbing the walls and terrified that something had gone wrong. It hadn't, but he found other stuff to do whilst in there so he did it.

In saying that, I did ask my anethetist last week and he said that the average time is about 1.5 hours.

I snuck a look at my charts one day when I was bored post-op.

The OP took 90 mins, but I had a good 15-30 mins pre-op in the operating suite waiting room, getting into the garb,anaesthetic room and seeing the anaesthetist, and then another 30mins+ in the recovery room post-op.

Technically I guess this puts me under the anaethetists care for over 2 hours, but as for being 'fully under' for the op, it was only just over one hour...

Its probably in their best interest to overestimate the length of time, billing wise, so dont get too freaked out about 3 hours.

I was under the impression the sleeve was like a 45min op, funny my suprise talking to the aneathatists secretary that I will be under for at least 3 hrs as im having "a massively huge surgery" WOW sweet lady but boy she could turn you off surgery with just 3 words in that tone!!!
so just checking how long is surgery???
