| I take Metamucil FibreCaps when necessary.
I just drink a glass of water after taking them, and I take the morning ones an hour after breakfast and the night lot about an hour or two after dinner. You are not suppose to take them with your normal meds, something to do with absorption, so I take my normal meds straight after breakfast and the Metamucil an hour later.
I did check with my bariatic nurse before I started taking them, as Benefibre was no longer working for me.

| There is a new laxative out.... got samples at work....HAHA
It is called OsmoLax.... http://www.keypharm.com.au/conditions/osmolax.php It is usually a good idea to get rid of the constipation first, then start extra fibre otherwise it makes the symptoms worse....

| Thanks WSU!
I will try to continue with the Benefibre.... I've been mixing it into custard and yoghurt etc - and it doesn't seem to disolve properly, then you get a big mouthful of granules... YUCK!!! I will try it in a drink - at least that way it will be keeping up the fluids too!!!

| The problem with metamucil caps is that they need to be taken with a lot of water and if you don't take them with enough they just tend to sit in your stomach in a big ball of fibre and make things worse. Are you taking the benefibre without flavour? I was just mixing it in with my morning coffee and it made no difference to the taste. Althought my surgeon said the same things tends to happen with benefibre as does with metamucil..it just sits there if not enough fluids go in. he suggested taking something like one coloxyl and senna tab and just seeing how it goes. He saids its gentle and wont cause any harm to new tummys. If that doesnt work increase to two. You can safely take 9 a day if you need to. Having had a bowel resection in the past I understand the whole constipation thing very well. Something else to consider is Movicol. A whole sachet only needs to be dissovled in half a glass of water and because of the way it works thats all the water it needs. It is very safe as it can be given to babies 12months of age with medical supervision
hope this helps

| Does anyone here take Fibre Tablets???
I'm struggling to get enough fibre in - and am suffering at the other end.... I don't really like Benefibre - and am wondering if the Metamucil FibreCaps would be beneficial...? It says they are 100% psyllium husks - http://www.metamucil.com.au/products_fibrecaps.php
Or will this be a waste of belly space? I already take - multi-vit, somac, pill - am I just adding to this unnecessarily?
