| That's what's happened to me, Brumbles. They need to make the costs clear on their procedure cost sheet. | |

| I'm in a private health fund. I had to pay $5500 up front for surgeons fees and after care. The practice submitted my two-way claim to Medicare and Private Health Fund. According to the practice I don't get any of this rebate back which brings the total out of pocket paid for the surgery to $6300 instead of $5500. Does this seem correct? I thought I would be getting the rebate? Apparently all I can claim are the individual appointments post-surgery. Feel like something's not quite right about this. Thoughts? Is there anyone apart from the Zpractice I should discuss this with? | |

| Butterfly, it would really depend on the surgeon. But for JA in Perth I paid $4800 and got approx $1000 back from the healthfund and PHI; and I only paid the gap to the sleep doctor; which was $700. (mostly from Medicare) If you get the numbers you may phone Medicare and they will tell you or you can look it up online. Do not forget to keep you receipts as you or your partner can claim all net medical costs (prescriptions, dieticans, vitimans, where they are ordered by a specialist to take plus more) for yourself, partner and all your dependent children/parents etc. (it is actually 5% off of your tax on all net medical bills over $2000; and yours will be huge); for the total financial year, being 2011/2012 for yourself. | |

| Hospital and theatre costs are normally covered by your health fund only, not medicare... so you won't get any rebate back from Medicare for that, but you should for your surgeon, anae and any pathology etc.... | |

| This may be covered elsewhere but I have not been able to find it. Can you claim any of the money back from the actual hospital stay and theatre costs from Medicare?? My PHI does not mature until Jan and I have been approved through APRA to access the money am just not sure what to send where. The surgeons cost compared to the hospital cost is actually not that bad!!
