| I am 3 months post op and heading OS in 3 weeks. I can eat anything and looking forward to my holiday. You will be fine.........enjoy! I agree about the clothes. I have bought my tops for the trip, but as yet have no trousers. LOL I only have 2 pair left that fit me, a winter weight pair of Autograph trousers and a pair of navy work pants. Have to try and get a couple of pairs of cheap jeans in the next couple of weeks. Good luck with your surgery. | |

| It might be a good idea to decide which pants are your favorite and go ahead and pack the next two or three sizes DOWN.....Your size will change several times in five months....Have fun. | |

| I had my surgery on Feb 23 and had to go to the USA on business for 2 weeks around mid-April. Apart from leaving a lot of food on plates, I didn't have any issues at all.
You should be absolutely fine! | |

| Hi Clare
I am 3 WEEKS (well not quite even) out and I would be able to go on holiday now.
I KNOW everyone recovers differently, but I have had pretty much a dream run and I feel great. Have even packed up he majority of our house this week (no box lifting though) cos we are moving and I feel fine.

| Hi Clare Can't offer much advise because I'm yet to be sleeved. Just wanted to say that I'm sooo envious of your trip - enjoy!! I backpacked around Europe, etc for six months about ten years ago, and lost weight from so much walking and hiking etc, so you'll do brilliantly sleeved and travelling. It should be a glorious way of helping with your depression, too! | |

| Hello Clare and welcome to this fabulous site. You will be fine to travel 3 months later. And i'm extremely jealous of your wonderful trip. How wonderful to go on a 5 months holiday and NOT put on weight. And if you haven't told many people about your surgery you can just say you did so much walking you lost stacks of weight. | |

| Hi all, Thank god for sites like these - I love that I can chat to other people who are going through the same things as me.
I am getting the sleeve on April 21 (I have butterflies in my soon-to-be-smaller stomach just thinking about it!) and my question is, unless something major goes wrong, will I be OK to travel 3 months after the procedure? I have this fabulous 5 month trip planned for Scandinavia, Europe, Italy etc. and don't want to risk ruining my holiday by being sick. Any advice would be welcome.
The doctor seemed to think this was the way to go, I had originally thought to get the band but that needs to be adjusted regularly and I just wasn't going to be around.
The thing that keeps me from running screaming from the op is that when I get home in January next year, I will blow everyone away with my wonderfullness! Not to mention all the things I can do while away if I'm lighter and smaller - fitting comfortably into the plane seat is just one of them!
Oops, just realised I was supposed to be introducing myself, not just hammering you with questions ;)
My name is Clare and I'm 29 years old. I have been overweight since leaving highschool and my weight has hit an all-time high of 137.4kg since being diagnosed with depression last year - horrific and I'm sick of being uncomfortable, having no energy, not liking my appearance and feeling like a giant clomper. ENOUGH!
Anyway, I'll stop babbling - thanks for having me!
