| Hello! I'm with Gail and Lib. It used to be fairly hard going with footwear, aching legs, veins, knees etc but now that I've lost some weight, its soooo much easier to walk around. I've even gone down 1- 1&1/2 shoe sizes. Oh dear I may have to start buying more shoes!! My husband will be so excited (not). Kat | |

| Hi all, I've had flat feet since birth because of a bizarre genetic condition (makes me sound like The Hulk, I know). Basically, my arches never had the tendon rigidity to bear my weight (even if it had been normal), and my ankles have collapsed into my arches, my knees have collapsed into my ankles, my thigh bone's connected to my.... Oh... you get it. It's a wonder I can stomp around, really. One of my friends did describe my gait as "that walk that makes tanks look dithery." Also, my feet are so wide that they are, in the words of one shoe sales man "practically square." Being overweight makes the pressure on the feet much worse. I feel it most in the ball of the foot / great toe joint, in the ankles, and in the knees. Losing weight does help a lot, but because of the tendon issue, my feet are never going to be "efficient" from an engineering perspective, so I've basically had to go with prescription orthotics (first pair made about 16 years ago). They're the only things that really help. From a fashion perspective they're a disaster, but I do like to be able to walk! Heels! Ha! Dark | |

| Hi Vogue, My feet used to hurt all the time, whenever I walked. In the summer they always swelled up and I wound up wearing runners all the time to try to contain the swelling. Doesn't happen at all now, I can be on my feet for hours even in the heat and nothing. No side effect so with luck this will happen to you as well. Cheers Gail | |

| When I was overweight, I couldn't wear high heels, they would hurt the balls of my feet. Now I am a 'normal' weight I can wear them all day! | |

| oh dear, vogue. This topic of sore feet came up at work yesterday. I think maybe you're not gonna like the collective decision we came to.... ageing! Seems like quite a few of us "more mature ladies" had sore feet at some stage. Got me wondering now whether impending flat-footedness, or falling arches maybe something to do with it? Just a thought... Anyways, other weight related issues I've had: sore knee joints, severely swelling ankles and feet, perspiring more than I used to, incredibly sore lower back even when I'm in bed. Can think of a few more, but that's as far as I'll go this time! RG | |

| Hi Folks, I just wanted to run something past you all, since gaining weight one of the big issues for me has been really sore feet, I have to take 2 pairs of shoes out with me so I can change them as my feet get so sore, suffering swollen feet that ache constantly with or without shoes, feeling hot all the time no matter what the temp is outside??? I have been and had hormone checks done that are all normal so Im assumming its just becasue Im carrying to much weight- Has this been the case with anyone here on this forum? Id appreciate your feedback if you get a minute.. Many Thanks, Vogue | |
