Today i went to the pub and ate "my last supper" finished every grain of rice on the plate and had a moments silence for the eating habits accumulated in the past 5 decades. Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of my life....gunna take some pics of my oversized tummy in the morning (to stick on the fidge for encouragement)....it is not a pretty sight !
Thanks for your kind words of support everyone....

| Hi Mark, Welcome and make sure you get along to one of the growing Adelaide get togethers. When we first started them there were only about 5 of us. I have been sleeved for 18 months now and Michael France was my surgeon so I know you will be in good hands with yours. I have lost 43 kg's and kept it off and can eat anything I like. All the best with your journey and I look forward to meeting you although I don't think I can make the February get together. steph | |

| Hi Mark and welcome. I havent been sleeved yet but can I say do go along to the get togethers. They are fantastic and you get to hear so much more from those who have gone before you. They are so supportive and absolutely no judgement at all. How often can we overweight people say we have gone somewhere and not ever felt judged! If the Adelaidians are anything like the Perthites ( and I know they are a fantastic bunch) then you will have a good time. Kylie | |

| Hi Mark,
If your surgeon is anything like Michael France - it will be a breeze!
I was sleeved by michael on 26/10/2009 and have lost nearly 30kg since.
good luck on your sleeve Mark - the Adelaide sleevers are a great inspiration and resource for info........

I am 5 weeks post-op, had have no problems what-so-ever. Loving my new sleeve.
Good luck with your liquid diet, remember its only a small part of your journey and will be over before you know it. Thanks for the welcome...God that "Opti..." stuff tastes ....are you eating "mashed" stuff now ?
Mark I had a strawbery shake for breakfast and ate the berry bars (keep bars in fridge, taste better) for lunch and dinner with my low energy vegetables. Tossed salad for lunch and I made a huge pot of vegie soup for dinner. Nice and easy!! Yes on soft diet now for the past week. Another week and I can start introducing all foods.

Hi Mark, I'll let you know who when it's all confirmed. I don't want to presume! The first surgeon I'm seeing might decline to take me on, and it'll be less embarrassing if I haven't named anyone... I've already experimented with Opti. Maaaaaaan! Best, Dark

Best,
Dark ..thanks , yes I hope we can go through it together ...who is your surgeon ?

| Hi Guys My name is Mark & I am going to have a sleeve by Mr Philip Game on the 12th Feb. I have managed to gain 4kgs/year since loosing my only son almost 5yrs ago....so something "had to give"
Maybe a surprise to many but I actually work in the medical field & Philip Game is the Bariatric Surgery lecturer at the RAH (he taught the ever delightful Michael France). Although he teaches all methods, he does almost exclusively gastric by-pass's now but I have convinced him to do a sleeve on me lol
I am very interested in your experiences pos & neg...as i am still to be done. I start 3 weeks of a disgusting "liquid" diet on Friday...
Mark
