| There was a segment on 'Whats Good For You' on tv not that long ago about detoxing. They took blood from them pre and post detox and although they lost quite a bit of weight the blood tests were astounding, and in a bad way. The Doctor didn't endorse doing a detox and said basically what bushgirl said. Eat healthily and drink water and that is all your body needs. | |

| While i could use one these days I have to say that all I've ever heard from a medical perspective is a big no. Most of the bacteria in your digestive tract is good stuff. So while you are cleaning out the bit of bad, you are losing all of the good stuff that your body needs. | |

| If you eat properly, there is actually no proof that detox is necessary. If you had a week without alcohol and take away food, and ate the proper dietary recommendations then you would be cleansing your insides the way it is supposed to be working. You have to be really careful with "detoxing" as you mainly lose water weight, and can very easily dehydrate. there is no medical need to follow the diets they claim detox you, but if you have a week off alcohol and fried foods, and take aways (the maccas hungry jacks etc kind) and watch your refined sugars, then you actually detox very well, without missing out on essential nutrients, proteins, good carbs, and essential fats. | |

| I work for a gastroenterologist and his advice - DON'T HAVE COLONIC IRRIGATION....... it is too dangerous and can perforate your bowel. Depending on your age, you may require a colonoscopy for screening purposes. This means taking bowel preparation to clean your bowel out and for a gastroenterologist to examine your bowel with a scope.....
In all colonic irrigation does nothing for "detoxing"......
all the best! | |
