| lol...I know these type of ppl...I have a few that just will not comment on any weight I have lost (24kgs has been my best effort in the last 10 years and still nada from them)
Some ppl are threatened I think...for me I have always been the 'safe' friend, noone has ever been threatened by me, they all say I am pretty and beautiful but trust me with their husbands 100%....lol I am completely faithful to my hubby btw...lol

| You've done really well Matilda and must be feeling fabulous. You could come and strut your stuff at one of our Perth get togethers - be great to see you!
I found that I didn't get many comments at all (from people who didn't know about the op) until I'd lost 20kg - but every kilo now makes a difference to the way I look and feel. It's good that by the time I had to talk a bit about my weight the op seemed like ages ago and it didn't feel untruthful to just say that I'd kick started the weight loss by doing Optifast for a few weeks and just kept going from there. When people want to discuss how I'm doing it we just talk generally about diet and exercise - most of which I'm trying to do. But I can't do that with people who are really struggling with their weight and always tell them about the surgery - there's only been 2.
Like you Matilda I think it's odd that people think that you are somehow going to change because your shape has ... very weird.

| Hey Jotane,
Firstly well done on such big weight loss. You're doing so good and am sure you look great This made me laugh as I was feeling a bit weird about the latest range of comments thrown my way. The funniest was if I lose any more weight I won't be the same person. I threw back 'well I can be bitchy and sarcastic as normal towards you, to remind you that I haven't changed my personality just my jeans size.. I always say to my friends that its nice that you all think I'm fading away, but i need perfect strangers to look at me and say I'm normal sized. Not quite there yet but hopefully sometime soon. The only thing I can't stand is the leering from older men that I've known for ages. Saying how good I look as they try and look down my shirt! Its good exercise moving away from them at a very fast pace. I know that they all mean well, but I'd prefer them to keep their comments and leers to themselves thank you very much. Now if it was Brad Pitt, I probably wouldn't complain. It's hard to know what to say to all the comments. At the moment I say I'm on a mission as my school reunion is coming up, after that there's a Ball on and then its Xmas. So I'm just going to keep saying I've got a perfect outfit that I want to wear and will give up the 'diet' after I fit into the dress. As for jealousy I think you are right in some cases. One of my friends said I couldn't go to the reunion with her if I'm too skinny. She was only half joking but I put that down to her issues with her appearance. I keep reminding her that none of us look like we did at school -(Thank goodness! It was the 80's and I can't believe how (or why) we made our hair so big and mulletty!) and at least we dress better and have lovely haircuts. Just think that they just wish they were as successful as you and take confidence in that.

| I have lost 18kgs and this week i had my first comment from my general Manager. She said its very noticable in my face and neck. My manager told her that I had time off for health reasons, after she saw me she thought I went to a health farm. I ended up telling her the other day and she was very supportive.
I find when you start to lose weight people refrain from saying anything in case you haven't lost weight

| yes yes yes.... i got really sick of those comments...the other one was, if you turn sideways we wont see you anymore. I actually ended up saying in a joking around manner that i was sick of those comments...and they seemed to stop after that. I got to my goal about 6 months ago and the most common comment now is, It looks like your keeping it off !!! lol I still get the odd your not losing anymore are you, but i have the perfect answer now.....i say i have been at the same weight for the past 6 months give or take a kg so no i wont lose anymore. Like chris said i think it is that most people had never seen me at this weight ( i was 17 the last time i was this weight) so they just had to get used to the new me. | |

| I can't wait for people to say that to me. I think work mates and friends are so used to seeing us as overweight/obese people that they think we ARE fading away to nothing. A lady at my work lost stacks and stack of weight (I don't know how much coz she won't talk about it because we have all told her to stop losing it) but I look at her now and realise that she does have a bit more to lose. Looking back now I think she may have had a bypass because she lost a lot of weight very quickly but could still eat a large quantity of food but it was always high in protien and lots of fresh juices. I know that once I've had my surgery and start eating at work my collegues will say something about me only eating a smaller amount, even though there are several ladies that eat like sparrows. And what will I say? I think I need to to have good answers for them to these sort of questions. | |

| It's all rather funny, I get it to. "my gosh you will be skin and bones soon" are you for real I still have 25kg's to go. No it's not jealousy, they just don't know what else to say.
Enjoyt I say. Max | |

| Yep, I do - and I'm still heaps overweight! LOL I sit here looking at my bulging tummy and wonder where on earth they're looking when they say that! It's just that they're used to you looking one way and can't adjust easily. Don't let them worry you... Hugs Chris | |

| hi i dont know if everyone else gets this but obviously people have noticed i have lost weight and make nice comments which is great but EVERYONE says "your not going to loose any more are you??...you will be skin and bones"....well actually i have 15 or more kilos to go and people just freak out like im going all anorexic or something!!. Firstly i have been 15 kilos lighter before and i wasnt near skin or bones...and secondly maybe i would like some bones!!! Are these people just trying to be nice or is it something else???...i mean most of these people are quite skinny themselves so it cant be a jealousy thing....anyway just wondering if anyone else gets these kind of comments | |
