| Oh @Shrinking Violet. Thank you for the up-date, but I am so terribly sorry that your hideous and horrific sagas continue. I can only send you my best wishes, xx | |

| Hi, sorry it's taken so long to respond. I rarely go online at all any more...too many nuts out there.
I'm over 3 years post op now and still have an NJ feeding tube. The twist in my stomach took over 2 1/2 years to fix itself without any surgical intervention. So now I can eat a lot more (still tight sleeve though). Problem is that I've recently had 2 small bowel obstructions (resolved without surgery) and tests showed it's due to adhesions and scarring. I've been told to expect constant bowel problems because the scarring is slowing the bowel transit time, even if it doesn't cause any more obstructions. So that means I've got malabsorption issues. Still have vitamin deficiencies and protein/albumin deficiencies. Also have consequent thinning of my bones and extremely thin hair with ongoing losses. My haematologist mentioned doing a 3 month trial of TPN...avoiding that if I can.
I finally get over the stomach issue and I get a bowel problem...this surgery is great for some, not so great for others...or maybe you have to be REALLY careful who you get for your surgeon!
Still plugging along with my other medical problems and Palliative Care have become involved (they said I'm not sick enough for close monitoring 😀) and still planning 2 cruises this year anyway.
Anyway...that's my update, hope you are all doing well. | |

| yes, interesting. we are really not told much when head into this surgery. i never had reflux before, and it only started about a year out from surgery. i thought i was ok until then, now its fairly constant, and the longer time goes the more foods upset my tummy.... | |
