| Interesting article!
This is only a surprise because we have such low transparency regarding specialist fees in Australia. It's hard for the government or health insurers to do anything about it, too, because doctors are a powerful bunch and usually get their own way in a lot of things. Medibank seems to be using upwards pressure from patients as a way of effecting change - clever.
The complication rates of sleeves vs bands might only be operative complications, not later complications like slippage or one of the other hundred things that can go wrong with them?
Bowel resections are usually done for cancer or some other life threatening condition, so it's no wonder there's a high complication rate. | |

| Interesting - I'm probably surprised that a simple colonoscopy or gastroscopy, with no surgical cutting has almost a high a complications rate as the sleeve ! Hoping I never have to have a bowel resection !!!! Actually, hoping to have no further surgery lol !! | |

| I love a good article, have people seen this one...
I don't know how much my sleeve actually cost, becuse I paid a combined sleeve and anethesist fee... And the complications from band at 200 in 1000 people, and sleeve... 182 in 1000 people... a bit surprising!!
I didn't realise it was that high, and that similar
